The Role::
Join our team and help us take our firm to the next level as a skilled and experienced Controller. As the controller, you will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our construction company. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, implementing financial controls, preparing financial reports, and providing strategic financial guidance to support effective decision-making. This is a key leadership position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment. Your expertise in technology and reporting will be instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making and ensuring accuracy in our financial records.

Responsibilities::
    • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and cost accounting.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.
    • Implement and maintain robust reporting systems, leveraging technology to generate accurate and timely financial reports.
    • Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to assess the company's financial performance and provide actionable insights to management.
    • Streamline accounting processes by implementing automation and innovative solutions.
    • Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop realistic financial targets and monitor performance against budgets.
    • Collaborate with project managers and estimators to provide accurate cost data for project proposals and ongoing projects.
    • Monitor project costs, budgets, and cash flow to ensure financial targets are met and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
    • Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and profitability analysis to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and tax filings Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in construction accounting and finance.
Qualifications::
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA designation is strongly preferred.
    • Proven experience (2+ years) as a Controller or similar financial leadership role within the construction industry.
    • Thorough knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, progress billing, work-in-progress (WIP), and revenue recognition.
    • Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong understanding of financial controls, internal controls, and risk management practices.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to mentor and develop team members.

Salary Range:
$78,000-$125,000 depending on experience
