Coordinator 1, Audio/Visual

Responsible for scheduling and coordinating technical support and facilities connected with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Video Conferencing systems, Web Conferencing Systems, Teleconferencing and EDNET systems in response to requests from SLCC faculty, staff, and administration as well as other educational and government users and off-campus commercial clients.

Responsible for designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting SLCC video conferencing facilities.

Works closely with management to coordinate and oversee video conferencing activities by ensuring that web video conferencing meetings are set up correctly, rooms are connected to online video conferencing systems correctly, and all participants have connectivity.

Must monitor connectivity throughout video conference and maintain confidentiality of video conference content.

Individual will lead other video conferencing team members and troubleshoot advanced problems and connectivity issues.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and schedule requests for technical support, use and access to video and teleconferencing systems from college faculty, staff and administration as well as other educational and governmental users and off-campus commercial clients.
  • Provide training in use of SLCC video conferencing systems as needed.
  • Design, program, maintain, and troubleshoot SLCC video conferencing facilities.
  • Supervise part time technical operations support staff.
  • Maintain daily operations schedule, assign workloads, arrange for staff training, and evaluate performance.
  • Represent SLCC at regularly scheduled EDNET technical operations and hub meetings.
  • Maintain current and complete documentation for events, programs, and classes supported, including filing of UEN request forms, communication of operations, procedures to users, preparing reports, documentation of scheduling logistics, and coordination of on-going feedback and communication regarding needs associated with programs, personnel, and processes.
  • Provide assistance in media productions as camera operator, teleprompter operator, or production assistant on production work within Multimedia production services as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (120 credit hours completed).
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years in video conferencing or other direct related full-time experience.
  • Experience with web-based video conferencing tools.
  • Experience with video and audio-conferencing equipment (e.g., Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom).
  • Experience with professional AV system integration products (e.g., Extron, Crestron).
  • Understand basics of networking, Internet Protocols, and routing.
Tradeoffs in education/experience considered on a two to one ratio.
Part-time experience may be considered on a prorated basis.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Skilled with scheduling resources and logistics.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing room design, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to supervise personnel.
  • Proficiency with web-based video conferencing tools.
  • Understanding of basic computer operating system usage, including Windows, Macintosh, and/or Linux operating platforms.
  • Proficiency with standard word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet computer applications.
  • Experience with video camera and recoding system operation.
  • Proficiency with budget/cost proposal preparation for clients.
  • Excellent public relations skills.
  • Must communicate well through voice mail, e-mail, in person, and via memos as required.
  • Ability to work effectively under very stressful situations.
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients.
  • Adapt to change on short notice and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge to collect data, write and prepare reports and documentation.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot advanced connectivity issues.
  • Understanding of video conferencing systems and interoperating with remote locations.
  • Understanding of AV integration systems.
  • Ability to work with clients in real-time and resolve issues that may come up during events.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
