Job Description Summary
This position executes daily operational and event-specific management operations for all Wake Forest University athletic programs. As a critical component of the facility operations workforce, this role manages hundreds of Wake Forest Athletics events & activities per year.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates the facility management and long-term maintenance of Spry Stadium, Kentner Stadium, and Wake Forest Tennis Center during gameday operations, team practices, university, and external use.
  • Serves as a primary game manager for select sports that include but not limited to Women’s Soccer, Women’s Field Hockey, Women’s Tennis, and Men’s Tennis.
  • Handles all event operational logistics. This includes serving as the visiting team liaison (coordinate buses, parking, locker room use, practice time, etc.), preparing and distributing operational guides, tournament manuals, credentials and signage production, running point with university and county first responders, police, security, janitorial, and game day workers, and planning and executing hospitality spaces.
  • Ensures events and facility operations comply with relevant regulations, permits, and licenses.
  • Implements safety protocols and emergency procedures. Identify and mitigate risks associated with selected events and facility operations.
  • Conducts post-event evaluations to assess the success of events, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback from clients and attendees. Implement changes if warranted and communicate it to appropriate personnel.
  • Manages in-game responsibilities including crowd control, facility and technology troubleshooting, upkeep of field/court, team and officials’ needs, support staff, scoreboard operation, clocks, sound equipment, metal detectors, and all other security areas.
  • Coordinates and plan with the event and facility operations team pre and post event logistics including setup, breakdown, transportation, and other logistics.
  • Coordinates upkeep and maintenance of facilities, ensuring playing fields and courts are prepared for team practices or games including, but not limited to goals, nets, press box, restrooms, trash removal, electronics and speakers, and lights.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment inventory. Manages and plans the maintenance and upkeep of department-owned and rented vehicles.
  • Supports the Event and Facility Operations staff and Senior Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Operations with short and long-term planning projects, which may include research, meetings, written reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to perform medium work: exerting up-to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; subject to extreme heat and cold; subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions; subject to oils; exposed to infectious diseases.
  • General knowledge of all ACC and NCAA competition guidelines related to game management.
  • Ability to communicate with various constituents: general public, students, coaches, and administrators.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office & Google applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the University’s automobile insurance policy.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Sports management/business degree or coursework.
  • Previous experience working within an intercollegiate athletic program.
Accountabilities:
  • Provide work direction and problem-solving assistance for game day temporary employees, volunteers, and student workers for assigned sports.
