The Role:
We are looking for a seasoned analyst to join our Strategic Capital team, supporting the team in deal analysis. The Strategic Capital team will identify, analyze, and provide tailored financing solutions to companies meeting certain criteria. The right candidate will be comfortable working with complex financial data, adaptive in an ever changing fast paced startup environment, coachable, and a team player.

What you'll be doing:

    • Use company financials and other data to assess the credit risk of private growth businesses in unconventional ways
    • Think creatively about financing solutions including loans, receivables factoring, revenue-based financing, merchant cash advance
    • Have a well-developed understanding of what makes a good investment
    • Professionally interview company management to gather data and develop rapport
    • Present data and conclusions in a clean and efficient manner
    • Create investment memoranda and analysis, write investment briefings. Present these to Investment Committee and defend your thinking
    • Assist in development of term sheets
    • Assist in closing of investments and due diligence
    • Monitor investments, refreshing analysis as required
    • Work with our technology product team and quantitative team to enhance the investment and underwriting process
    • Support the product team in creating investor-first products and testing product functionalities
    • Facilitate meetings amongst various team members

What You'll Bring:

    • Ability to gather and interpret large amounts of data
    • Experience creating valuation models, pricing analysis, investor presentations and other such diligence deliverables
    • Credit background, with experience in specialty credit
    • Research, analysis, and deal operations experience
    • Experience presenting data and conclusions in a clean and efficient manner to senior stakeholders
    • Strong communication skills (interacting internally and externally, cross functionally as well as with clients such as investors & companies)
    • Product experience (and ability to nurture product learnings to incorporate into an analytics platform)
    • Self starter, with comfort in a dynamic and fast paced environment
    • Curiosity and enthusiasm around both analysis and relationship building

Preferred Experience and Skills:

    • Minimum 3-4 years experience in one of the following fields: leveraged finance, private debt, venture debt, structured private equity, specialty credit, revenue-based lending, receivables factoring, merchant cash advance, small business lending
    • Exposure to growth investing a positive
    • Investment banking training preferred
    • Top-level Excel skills, accustomed to handling large spreadsheets and datasets
    • Exceptional Accounting knowledge or education.
    • CPA a plus.
    • CFA progress a plus.
    • Book-keeping or QuickBooks experience a plus
    • Attention to detail
    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably majors in Finance or Accounting
