This position provides an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment with the benefits of a smaller organization (interacting directly with underwriters and underwriting leaders, your work impacts the bottom line, visibility throughout the organization), but the security, stability, and opportunity of a large conglomerate being a part of Fairfax, one of the largest P&C insurers in the United States. The role will be focused on the Commercial Lines business (Auto, GL, Property, WC, and Excess) working for the Middle Market Solutions group which focuses on Manufacturing, Wholesale, and Retail risks. You would work closely with the larger Commercial & Executive actuarial team of 14 that share a weekly huddle, best practices and tools, and partner to solve business problems.What YOU Will Do• Perform profitability studies and monitor trends• Analyze book results to help identify outliers in performance and opportunities for growth• Develop, maintain, review, update, and enhance pricing tools• Become a technical expert and trusted advisor for underwriters/management, with significant contributions to large account pricing discussions• Review key performance indicators on a monthly/quarterly basis• Operate as an effective team member by supporting projects that support the broader actuarial team• Keep up-to-date on industry best practices, new initiatives, market trends, and changes in regulatory requirements• Support the centralized regulatory services group as needed for product initiatives and filingsWhat YOU Will Bring To C&F• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and a passion for P&C actuarial analytics• 3+ Years of experience, preferably focused on pricing• 3+ Actuarial exams• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written• Ability to work efficiently independently and in a group setting• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines• Proficiency in MS Office products and at m a baseline familiarity with programming languages (R or SQL)• Compliance with all C&F policies and proceduresWhat C&F Will Bring To You• Competitive compensation package• Generous 401K employer match• Employee Stock Purchase plan with employer matching• Generous Paid Time Off• Excellent benefits that go beyond health, dental & vision. Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $74,900.00 to a maximum of $140,700.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
