The OpportunityThe Director will collaborate with the Head of the Technology Office to define and implement strategies for our AI Platform, emphasizing scalability, security, and alignment with our goals.The RoleTechnical Expertise• Implement AI/ML models and algorithms using advanced concepts, structures, and frameworks. Apply skills in popular programming languages and libraries to drive the progress of AI development initiatives.• Knowledge in AI platform and product development: familiar with designing, constructing, or supervising AI infrastructures, particularly those based on cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google, featuring a range of language models in various capacities, whether open to the public or proprietary.• Data engineering abilities in focus: Crafting, assembling, and maintaining data pipelines, integrating data processing methods, and overseeing data storage solutions targeted for AI operations.• Create scalable AI solutions by following software engineering best practices, which encompass utilizing the software development lifecycle, integrating DEVOPS methodologies, and implementing thorough testing approaches.Leadership and Management• Strategic thinking encompasses the alignment of AI initiatives with overarching team objectives and the translation of these alignments into practical roadmaps.• Develop and steer AI groups toward success, emphasizing the importance of innovation and skill development.• Encourage cooperation between departments by working closely with stakeholders and leaders across multiple business functions.• The role of project management is to effectively coordinate with partners, successfully execute AI projects within specified deadlines and financial constraints, and skillfully navigate available resources and risks.Strategic Vision• Keep yourself informed about the most recent trends and advancements in AI technology to pinpoint possible opportunities and challenges.• Painting a picture with words: Illustrating the concepts of vision and journey through a compelling storyline.• Focus on innovating: Drive the exploration and experimentation of the most recent AI methods for a competitive advantage.• Ethical considerations are integral in fostering a climate of accountability and equity in the progression and utilization of AI technologies.• Exploring the AI Champion, its potential, and the roadmap we are crafting with our partners.• Consistently stay updated on the newest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies to enhance your knowledge.• Elucidate sophisticated AI theories to non-technical team members to propel understanding, acceptance, and enthusiasm.Vendor Management:• Spearheading the contractual ownership responsibilities for AI technology providers.• Handle vendor connections while ensuring that service benchmarks and contractual obligations are satisfied.Financial Management:• Accountable for overseeing a budget exceeding $10 million for an artificial intelligence and cloud platformTeam Leadership:• Organize and lead a team of IT professionals for optimal results.• Cultivate a setting that nourishes originality, collaboration, and continuous enhancement.Your Accomplishments and Expertise• Individuals interested in applying must have received an undergraduate qualification in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or a related subject• Candidates with a master's degree and relevant certifications are in high demand• Boasting a solid background of over ten years in the IT sector• Leadership experience exceeding four years, either through formal managerial roles or demonstrated leadership qualities.• Overseeing IT projects in a global context necessitates a deep understanding of varying regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.• Having worked in a Pharma/Biotech or comparable regulated sector is a plus• Proficient in solution architecture, with a concentration on cloud solutions like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.• Engage with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, encompassing both technical and non-technical representatives.• Successful history of implementing cohesive plans for integrated cloud platforms.• Proven track record in handling LLM models effectively.• A background in both DevOps and ML/AI engineering is preferred.The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
