Global Director of AI/ML Platforms

The OpportunityThe Director will work closely with the Head of the Technology Office to devise and implement strategies for our AI Platform, with an emphasis on scalability, security, and alignment with our objectives.The RoleTechnical Expertise• Implement AI/ML models and algorithms using advanced concepts, structures, and frameworks. Apply skills in popular programming languages and libraries to drive the progress of AI development initiatives.• Expertise in AI platform and product design: experienced in creating, developing, or managing AI platforms, with a focus on cloud-based solutions like AWS, Azure, or Google, integrating both expansive and compact language models, whether open or closed.• Data engineering proficiency: Planning, constructing, and managing data pipelines, implementing data processing strategies, and supervising data storage solutions optimized for AI tasks.• Ensure the scalability of AI solutions through the application of software engineering best practices, including leveraging the software development lifecycle, adopting DEVOPS principles, and implementing rigorous testing methodologies.Leadership and Management• The strategic thinking process involves harmonizing AI initiatives with the overall team objectives and developing actionable roadmaps based on this alignment.• Drive innovation and learning within AI teams through effective leadership and mentorship, ensuring continuous development and success.• Promote cross-functional partnerships by working closely with stakeholders and leaders from various business divisions.• The responsibilities of project management include managing partnerships, delivering AI projects on schedule and within budget, and effectively handling available resources and risks.Strategic Vision• Be aware of the industry developments in AI technology to identify possible opportunities and threats.• Weaving a narrative: Interweaving the elements of vision and journey into a storytelling journey.• Innovate with intention: Encourage the exploration and experimentation of cutting-edge AI techniques to gain a competitive edge.• Promoting ethical awareness is essential in facilitating the responsible and equitable development and deployment of artificial intelligence.• Exploring the AI Champion, its potential, and the roadmap we are crafting with our partners.• Keep yourself up to speed with the latest developments in AI and machine learning through ongoing investigation.• Present elaborate AI principles to colleagues without technical knowledge to boost awareness, adoption, and excitement.Vendor Management:• Oversight of the contractual ownership framework for AI technology providers.• Maintain oversight of vendor relationships to ensure compliance with service levels and contractual obligations.Financial Management:• Accountable for a financial plan of over $10 million for an artificial intelligence and cloud systemTeam Leadership:• Manage and support a team of IT professionals to excel in their work.• Promote an ethos that values inventive approaches, partnership, and continual development.Your Accomplishments and Expertise• Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or an equivalent field• Having a masters degree and pertinent certifications is advantageous• Boasting a solid background of over ten years in the IT sector• Extensive experience in managing teams for a minimum of four years, showcasing strong leadership skills.• Supervising IT projects in an international setting requires implementing effective risk management strategies tailored to different regions.• Experience in a regulated industry such as Pharma/Biotech is a valued asset• Competence in solution architecture, specialized in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.• Engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, ranging from technical experts to non-technical individuals.• Proficient in executing cohesive roadmaps for cloud platforms.• Illustrated experience in practical use of LLM models.• Having hands-on experience with DevOps and a strong background in ML/AI engineering is advantageous.The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
