Ryerson is currently seeking an Cut to Length Operator to join our Operations team in the Centralia market.
This role will be responsible for the following:
- Daily Cut to Length machine operation for part processing
- Machine set-up, potential CNC Machine set-up
- Scrap management of rebooks and efficient scrap utilization
- Feedstock material inspection to ensure quality specifications
- Calibration of measuring equipment (checking measuring equipment, i.e. tape measures, each day prior to using it in the course of a shift)
- Part inspection to ensure quality specifications
- Basic machine maintenance, including assisting maintenance personnel during breakdowns
- Ability and willingness to effectively train others on machines, work cell or other business functions as required
- Pulling and staging feedstock for production orders
- Ensuring size, material finish, and accuracy of the finished goods
- Packaging of material to customer requirements
- Material staging for shipping
- Operating a crane to move material as needed
- Operating a forklift or side loader to move material as needed
- Conducting daily prestart inspections on all required equipment/machine and identify any issues
- Work order confirmation on computer
- Carrying/moving supplies as needed
- Maintaining good house keeping
- Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and use prescribed safety equipment, including PPE
- Ability to safely execute job tasks while meeting productivity goals
- Ability to identify and report workplace hazards to supervision; remedy identified hazards if within ability
- Being able to utilize and speak to Visual Management Boards (if applicable)
- Other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervision.
