Job Summary
As a Data Analyst III you will connect, analyze, and model mountains of data to explain complex phenomena, model uncertainty, and predict & optimize outcomes to solve real world business problems. You will play a key role in turning a wide array of business problems into analysis & modeling problems to deliver timely, cogent, and actionable insights to our business partners using a variety of tools and techniques. You will work collaboratively with leaders, engineers, and analysts to help solve some of our most complex problems and develop math and machine learning backed services for operational and customer-facing applications.
What You’ll Do
Define and execute complex analyses over a broad range of subject areas, including merchandising/product, operations/supply chain, and customer activation/engagement
Collect and connect existing data across platforms, identify new data sources and work with data engineers to prioritize integrations needed to power analysis and model construction
Uncover ‘hidden’ patterns and correlations using rigorous, reproducible methods and translate them to business driving measures, insights, and models
Operate from first principles to build an appropriate understanding of different problems and work across the organization to gather requirements, build data understanding, and seek subject matter expertise as needed to frame solutions appropriately
Partner with our data engineers to bring models from prototype to production by articulating the data pipeline, environment(s), compute/storage, testing, and monitoring required to transition your models from concept to scalable service(s)
Work at multiple levels of the organization, combining confidence and expertise with humility and empathy, to convey complex concepts to non-quant audiences at the appropriate depth
Create dynamic visualizations and dashboards to present complex findings in a consumable manner to a broad range of stakeholders using a variety of tools and techniques
Mentor and share expertise with other analysts across the organization, help others find paths to develop new expertise, and champion the use of data and machine learning to solve business problems
What You’ll Need
Methodical approach to interpreting and breaking down problems and hyper focused around the accuracy and reproducibility of results
Demonstrable experience navigating the analytics lifecycle and applying different techniques to solve the problem at hand, with a constant focus on interpretable and actionable results
Ability to self-organize, work independently, and simultaneously manage multiple projects while providing visibility to stakeholders on progress made, blocking issues, and expected timelines
Strong collaboration skills and an ability to lead complex cross-organizational projects to successful completion while navigating ambiguity and conflicting priorities
Strong writing, visualization and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to a broad range of non-technical stakeholders and cross-organizational leaders
Problem solving mindset coupled with deep intellectual curiosity and fortitude, and passion for learning
Research mindset and drive to find and assimilate applicable theoretical approaches while simultaneously building solutions in new and/or unfamiliar problem spaces
Strong working knowledge of probability & statistics (probability distributions, inference, confidence, bootstrapping, hypothesis testing). Conceptual knowledge of linear algebra, multivariable calculus, and ODE a big plus
Advanced SQL skills
Advanced skills with a data-oriented programming language, with a focus on analytical/scientific computing [Python preferred]
Experience developing core machine learning and deep learning models [regression, classification, segmentation, forecasting, nlp]. Experience with optimization is a big plus.
Expertise in developing and deploying analytical outputs on modern reporting & analysis platforms [Tableau, Looker, Mode, PowerBI, etc.]
3+ years experience as a data analyst, statistician, data scientist, or similar required
Bachelor’s degree required, with a focus in a quantitative field a big plus
Nice to Have - Bonus Points!
Experience in ecommerce or retail
Experience with web-scale data and cloud technologies
