Department Summary

Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will design, implement, deploy and support enterprise level BI services in conjunction with other members of the team. The demands for trusted institutional data are exponentially rising as complex data analytics inform institutional decisions and planning. This position provides complex data analysis, report development, and training for enterprise-level Integrated Data and Reporting (IDR) services.

This position functions within a team to initiate, promote and coordinate activities to foster growth within the University analytics and report writing community. The position works closely with academic and administrative units to analyze data and reporting needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position also responds to and resolves end-user requests/issues, leads or participates in end-user support and training activities and acts in the role of analyst to define and meet University Business Intelligence needs.

Essential Personnel
This position may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.

Minimum Requirements

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM Cognos or MS Power BI
  • Experience developing in cloud data services (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience with higher education ERP solutions; such as, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
  • Experience with direct query languages and tools such as SQL
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on Financial, HR or Student Information System data
  • Experience with ITIL or ITSM
