As a Data Governance Program Manager at Interwell Health you will play a crucial role in shaping our data governance strategy, facilitating the development of the data governance organization and executing our data governance vision. The ideal candidate will have a background in healthcare, hands-on experience with data governance programs and tools. They will have a track record of successful collaboration with business stakeholders to develop precise business definitions for clinical and operational concepts. This individual should be comfortable with ambiguity and be self-directed.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Data Governance Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain an effective data governance framework. Ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals, focusing on data quality, privacy, security, and compliance.
- Business Definitions Development: Work closely with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to create comprehensive and clear business definitions for high priority concepts, ensuring a standardized understanding of key data concepts across the organization. You will link the emerging business glossary with associated metrics and data to create a complete lineage.
- Data Stewardship: Establish data stewardship practices to govern data ownership, data accountability, and data issue resolution. Collaborate with domain data stewards to develop and adhere to data governance policies and guidelines.
- Data Quality and Integrity: Implement processes to monitor and improve data quality and integrity, addressing data anomalies, inconsistencies, and duplications.
- Data Governance Platform: Drive the roadmap, adoption, and optimization of our data governance platform, facilitating data profiling, data lineage, data cataloging, and data classification to promote data transparency and accessibility.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.) and ensure data governance practices align with these requirements.
- Data Security and Privacy: Collaborate with the security and privacy teams to implement data security and privacy controls within the data governance framework.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate the value of data governance and its impact on decision-making to business stakeholders, promoting a data-driven culture within the organization.
- Training and Awareness: Develop training materials and conduct data governance awareness sessions for employees to promote understanding and adoption of data governance principles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data governance, ideally within the healthcare industry, ideally with a focus on value-based care models.
- Experience using, implementing or administering data governance platforms (e.g., Purview Collibra, Informatica Axon, IBM InfoSphere).
- Strong understanding of healthcare terminology, clinical workflows, and operational processes.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT) and data exchange formats (HL7, FHIR).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex data-related issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Knowledge of healthcare data privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA and HITECH.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
- Certifications in data governance (e.g., DGSP, CDGP) and healthcare informatics (e.g., CPHIMS) are a plus.
