About the Role (Your Why)

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, supporting and customising developed systems software and firmware for customers. This role will involve operating Datacom’s technical infrastructure including corporate hardware and software as well as providing corporate systems for the Datacom Business. Your knowledge, and more importantly ability to learn and apply your skills, will lead to success in the role and for the team. We build and run numerous key systems for some great Kiwi companies and we keep their businesses running by supporting them from anywhere in New Zealand. As a result, we are passionate about getting the results that the customer needs and adding value to their business.

Our offices are based in Christchurch. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best! 

Note that due to security requirements, we will only be considering citizens and residents of New Zealand for this role.

 

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement systems and infrastructure based on client requirements
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for systems and infrastructure
  • Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of systems and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry

We are a pretty agile company and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs. 

What You'll Bring

On the technical side, you should have plenty of experience with Windows Server Technologies. The successful applicant would be expected to be well versed in:

  • Microsoft operating system and Windows Servers
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, ADFS, DHCP, DFS
  • Virtualisation technologies (VMware)
  • Understanding of Core Networking principals
  • Microsoft systems and services
  • Remote Desktop Services
  • PowerShell scripting and Automation

 

It would be desirable if you also had the following skills:

  • Exchange support and patching
  • BigFix
  • Azure
  • AWS
  • Linux
