BAR K JOB DESCRIPTION — ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

It is a complex concept that requires expert execution across multiple business segments including food and beverage, marketing, dog recreation, retail, and others.
SUMMARY
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is one of the most critical roles in the organization and is responsible for all aspects of the successful management and operation of each individual Bar K facility. The AGM will report directly to the General Manager. Each department manager at the location will report directly to the GM and then to the AGM.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the venue, including cash control//security procedures, maintaining proper inventory, managing labor, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions, etc.
- Preparing regular financial reports at direction of the GM and reporting on same to GM and COO.
- Manage all day-to-day operations of the venue within policies and guidelines set forth by the company.
- Maintain a professional company image, including restaurant and bar cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Manage service contracts with outside vendors, including consulting agreements, entertainment vendors, etc.
- Ensure daily deposits have been deposited, safe counts conducted, and venue's cash is always secured.
- Achieve targeted margins for cost of goods sold by, for example, limiting waste, regularly checking inventory and discount usage, portion, and recipe control, etc.
- Execute the company’s Hospitality Guidelines, respond to all customer service needs, and provide the highest standards of service.
- Complete financial and personnel//payroll related administrative duties accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies.
- Recruit, interview and hire management team members; train, supervise and motivate; take appropriate disciplinary and other employment action when necessary and in accordance with company’s Employee Handbook.
- Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Represent the venue in a professional manner to the community-at-large, including local businesses, civic organizations, and media.
- Work with GM to ensure that all necessary local permitting, licensing, and other local regulatory compliance is in order.
- Ensure that all local marketing activities are coordinated with company’s marketing department and in compliance with company’s Brand Guidelines.

EXPECTED JOB SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required; 4-year college degree or equivalent with course work in restaurant management, preferred.
- At least 5 years' experience in restaurant management, multi-unit management a plus, and have proven ability to thrive in such environment.
- Excellent people management, communication and listening skills.
- Proven ability to lead a team and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Must be internally motivated and detail oriented and have a passion for teaching others.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must Love Dogs!

- Frequently standing up or moving within and outside the facility
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must speak fluent English, other languages preferred
- Overnight travel may be required
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This will be a full-time, exempt position. The Assistant General Manager may also be eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus if certain financial and performance-based objectives are met.
