Director, Brand & Communications

We are looking for a Director of Brand & Communications who will establish, lead, and bring to life a compelling and differentiated Ribbon brand story. The mission of the brand and communications team is to amplify what makes Ribbon unique to an increased audience base so we are able to partner with mission-driven healthcare organizations and hire values-aligned talent, ultimately powering every healthcare decision to be convenient, cost-effective, and high-quality. You will act as a creative narrative strategist, a change agent, and a player-coach, who will help bring out the best in your team, both internally and with external partners, and work with them to drive meaningful market impact.

What we look for at Ribbon

  • Passion and drive to simplify healthcare by building products that increase access to care and power every healthcare decision to be high-quality, cost-effective, and convenient
  • Commitment to Ribbon Health company values, working on an exceptional team, and building an exceptional company
  • Grit, hustle, desire, and a “get-it-done” attitude; strong comfort with a lean startup environment, where everyone is encouraged to participate in and contribute across all teams
  • Dedication to the creation of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where teammates are celebrated for their unique perspectives and work together to simplify healthcare for all

What we're looking for in this role

  • Leader and Mentor: You care deeply about the people you work with and have demonstrated the ability to bring out the best in other teammates and/or vendors and set them up for success.
  • Creative Strategist: You can develop, build, and push forward creative solutions spanning verbal and visual creativity
  • Exceptional Communicator: You can clearly and succinctly connect the dots between a technical product and the impact that product can drive in patients’ lives. You lead with empathy, passion, and care in your communications both internally and externally.
  • Ownership Mentality: You care deeply about making sure we achieve strong outcomes in terms of brand and market awareness and are careful not to divorce creativity from impact.
  • Relevant Brand and/or Communications Experience: You have managed significant initiatives spanning employer brand, company brand, and/or highly complex communications campaigns.

Your day-to-day

  • Player / Coach: You are a team leader and will be contributing to large campaigns and initiatives. You will be a culture builder that helps the team adopt brand and communications best practices, while maintaining our start-up velocity. You will also be responsible for hiring and growing this team, and you will have a perspective on what capabilities should be outsourced vs. internal.
  • Evaluate and improve the Ribbon visual and verbal identity: You will manage soliciting and synthesizing internal and external feedback on our verbal and visual brand identities, identify opportunities for improvement, and ultimately lead an appropriately-scoped rebrand initiative from scoping through measuring impact.
  • Ensure that our brand identity is passing through to all audiences: You will work with Ribbon’s internal teams and vendors to ensure our best, most creative and compelling brand positioning is consistently showing up across channels and for all target audiences.
  • Automation: You will identify opportunities to improve and automate repeated workflows or areas of friction and create scalable systems and tools for leveraging internal stories and resources.
