About the team and what we'll build together

The key role of Business Development is to drive the company's growth through bringing on new clients into our portfolio. We also support the retention and growth of existing clients through our business development solutions team. At Kobie, Business Development is a team sport and through our teammate collaboration we bring our A game every time!


How you will make an impact

Reporting to Vice President of Business Development, the core responsibility of the Director of Business Development is to source, develop, and close new client relationships across Kobie's core products and defined target list. This individual will be required to achieve their individual sales target and contribute to Kobie's business strategy.

  • Support Kobie's revenue growth by meeting – and exceeding – individual revenue target through selling of Kobie's full range of marketing services and technology
  • Own the entire sales cycle by creating new business leads/opportunities, building and maintaining new business pipeline, developing proposals and pricing, and negotiating and closing deals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams that help respond to RFPs and create sales collateral (thought-leadership, proposals, etc.)
  • Maintain a strong network of contacts across multiple industries
  • Present at client meetings and represent the company through event attendance
  • Contribute to the business development team "win" strategy and how the company creates and nurtures leads
  • Partner primarily with client services, IT, product, corporate strategy, corporate marketing and emerging market teams
  • Support the company-wide innovation culture, including participation in webinars, white papers, webcasts, and internal knowledge-sharing
  • Travel to client locations to develop strong relationships and increase name recognition of Kobie (when applicable)
  • Communicate and work with team members to ensure alignment of long- and short- term company goals

What you need to be successful

  • 5+ years sales and business development experience as an individual contributor in a consultative, services environment
  • Passion for strategic and thoughtful cold-outreach to generate awareness and build pipeline
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities at once with both long- and short-sales cycles
  • Prior experience in customer loyalty and/or customer experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent communication (presentation and writing) skills with senior executives
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills that will go beyond just the "one-time deal"
  • Aptness for strategic pricing of multi-faceted solutions and the negotiation process
  • Experience selling across multiple verticals (retail, travel and hospitality, telecom, financial services)
  • Deep understanding of technology, database marketing, and analytics
  • Familiarity with customer loyalty programs, metrics, and solution providers
  • Working knowledge of marketing technology, analytics/BI, and agency services
  • Attention to detail and creativity to lead first-rate presentation/RFP creation and delivery
