Director Lab/Manufacturing Operations
Partner with VSPOne Network Executives to assist in establishing the strategic direction for the Lab
Develop strategic and business solutions to anticipate and resolve complex issues related to all aspects of the lab including production, operations, business development, customer relations, staffing, and budget; monitor expenses to ensure unit costs are within established levels
Establish and monitor production goals, policies, procedures, and systems related to all aspects of day-to-day lab operations
Establish and manage the overall staffing plan to ensure the most qualified applicants are selected
Monitor performance of direct reports; provide prompt and objective coaching in accomplishing goals and in job performance; conduct performance and salary reviews
Monitor lab’s turnover, productivity, and overall performance to ensure performance standards are met
Prepare and review financial performance reports with VSPOne Network Executives
Develop and maintain partnerships with other VSP business teams; coordinate with other units to facilitate special requests
Assure effective communications are maintained within the lab and externally
Establish positive and professional relationships with vendors and other outside business contacts
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 2 additional years of experience related to functional area
Minimum of 6 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing the performance of direct reports
Broad-range experience in laboratory production and laboratory operations (inventory control, purchasing, customer service, and general financial)
Demonstrated record of developing and accomplishing business goals through effective selection and direction of human resources and appropriate utilization of technical resources
Ability to analyze, develop, and modify work processes to ensure optimum efficiency
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to lead the development and implementation of new processes and procedures
Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong client relationships and to interface effectively with all levels of employees as well as vendors
Proven ability in participating in high-level, company-wide planning and strategy efforts
Proven project management experience with multiple large-scale projects

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
