Executes strategic alignment, long-term planning, operational planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, evaluation means, student initiatives, and policies of the department. Maintains responsibility for budgetary matters. Directs effective communications, promotions, and public relations for the department.
The Director manages all facets of a comprehensive orientation, transition, and retention program for all undergraduate students (approximately 5000 students per year). In collaboration with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, Student Affairs, undergraduate academic schools, and numerous campus partners, this position is responsible for the creation, implementation, execution, and assessment of programs supporting a seamless, successful transition to the University and students’ First Year Experience. Others duties as required. Essential – Program Planning/Implementation: Leads the Office of New Student Programs. Serves as the lead administrator for undergraduate summer, fall, and spring orientation and transition programs for new and transfer students. Supervises professional staff by providing regular support, guidance, training and feedback. Collaborates and directs campus and community partners that have roles with any program. Oversees the creation and production of all program publications. Oversees the reservation, customer service and communication processes. Programs include: Online Orientation, Panther Connect, Welcome Week, First Six Weeks, and Transfer Orientation. Essential – Online Orientation, Panther Connect, Welcome Week, and First Six Weeks: Create, plan, and implement these experiences with the NSP staff for new undergraduate students. Supervise and lead the NSP staff in accomplishing these programs. Work with the staff to coordinate a quality New Student Ambassador student staff to assist with the implementation of these programs. Provide regular training, support and feedback to the professional, graduate student and undergraduate student staff. Assist in the creation, planning and logistics of these programs by working closely with facilities, housing/dining, parent and family liaison, and other university partners. Essential – Financial Management: Oversee the NSP budget including the tracking of revenue and expenditures. Assure compliance with all fiscal and procurement policies. Assist in the development of a comprehensive departmental budget

Essential Functions • Provides strategic alignment, long-term planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions in areas including student affairs, student finance, admissions, student records, and study abroad programs. • Translates strategic and tactical business plans into student operational plans. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, and policies of the department. • Evaluates and improves Student Affairs’ programs; formulates and implements student policies; develops innovative strategies for providing student services; and employs practices that foster recruitment, retention, and enhancement of the overall quality of the student college experience. • Formulates and administers the annual operating budget. Procures agreements for materials or services. • Oversees and develops initiatives such as peer tutoring, academic coaching, transfer student success, reducing/eliminating academic disparities, and academic standing policies and procedures. • Develops and maintains partnerships throughout the University. Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects. • Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for the department to achieve departmental goals and objectives. • Ensures that all programs and activities comply with University, state, and federal regulations. • Serves on various University, division, and departmental committees and represents the department at various state and national associations. • Supervises staff, which includes hiring, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities. Distributes and reviews work.
Physical Effort The position is partially sedentary. There is a great deal of mobility throughout the campus.
