Position Summary:

Platform9 is looking for a senior engineering leader who can help us grow our Pune engineering site into a Centre of Excellence for Cloud Native technologies. This role is a combination of Site leadership as well as Technical responsibilities for all of Engineering in India.

The engineering director needs to be confident in managing, growing and developing teams. They will be expected to set goals, determine budget and timeline for engineering initiatives within the company. The individual in this role will drive key objectives for software delivery, cost efficiency and quality aligned to the company vision.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Drive the site strategy for Pune to make it Platform9’s R&D Center of Excellence
• Build and lead a strong engineering team, specializing in the cloud native infrastructure space.
• Build capabilities in emerging areas and drive innovation though a high performing and diverse engineering organization, for sustained growth.
• Create a brand for Platform9 in India (internal and external) through representation in webinars, tech conferences and contribution to technical blogs, articles etc.
• Provide “One Voice of India” to stakeholders/business partners and represent India employees on various site issues/proposals
• Evaluate challenges faced by the Engineering team and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
• Create “One Engineering Team” experience across US and India, with India being the R&D Center of Excellence
• Develop well defined hiring and retention strategy and philosophy for all engineering in India. Mentor and Coach employees at all levels.
• Driving initiatives that help create a positive company culture and an engaged workforce
• Manage performance and reward decisions of the India engineering team, in partnership with matrix dept leaders.
• Manage the budget for the India engineering team
• Drive the product vision through excellence in execution, owning and managing all engineering teams (engineering services, quality, core engineering, UI, engineering R&D functions) to ensure that department goals and objectives are met.
• Drive tradeoff evaluations and execution decisions. Make informed decisions around tradeoffs in technology and strategy decisions.
• Staying abreast of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to cloud native development.

• Strong organizational skills - ability to manage schedule, people and cost / budget
• Exposure to application development in the cloud-native landscape.
• Experience in developing strategies to optimize operations, collaborate on product roadmaps planning and liaising with key clients and business partners
• Ability to work in a fast pace, dynamic environment.
• Driving impact and business results and influence remotely.
• Contributing to sales innovations, strategic business development, and the profitability of the company as determined by the company's strategic goals
• Preferred experience in building and scaling up teams
• Exposure to public / private cloud based development with the big 3 clouds / Virtualization/Bare-Metal/OpenStack / Kubernetes and associated eco system
• Exposure to, and understanding of open-source projects, serverless technologies, particularly within the Kubernetes ecosystem
• Experience in defining standards and KPI’s to drive results

Qualifications:

• Extensive hands-on and organization leadership experience of 18+ years
• Preferred Engineering degree from a reputed university.
• Education or certification in business administration or related experience work in a technology environment leading vertical functional teams/business verticals.
