Director of Operations - AoPS Online

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country's top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into additional subjects, including language arts, science, and computer science.

AoPS Online offers rigorous, high-quality math curriculum and online STEM classes for middle and high school students. We currently train tens of thousands of students from around the world through our online school and community. We are looking for a data-driven leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of AoPS Online. Reporting to our AoPS Online Director, the Director of Operations oversees the School Staff team and Customer Success team. The Director of Operations will play a key role in keeping a high quality bar for our instruction and customer support while promoting operational efficiency.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee the School Staff team which is responsible for the delivery of educational services provided by the Online School.
• Oversee customer support, enrolled student support (grade requests, extensions, cheating incidents, etc), and moderation of our online community.
• Supervise the tracking, execution, and maintenance of yearly recurring projects, tasks, and responsibilities, such as launching seasonal course registrations.
• Ensure the AoPS Online Community, its free resources, and academic contest collaborations are running smoothly and efficiently.
• Coordinate with company leadership to determine course offerings, projects and priorities, and Online School policies.
• Identify and prioritize operational improvements that require engineering resources, and work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to execute.
• Serve as the main point-of-contact for operational inquiries, concerns, and cross-functional collaboration while driving cross-functional trouble-shooting, planning, and coordination.
• Continually identify areas for improvement in the Online School Operations space and drive positive changes. Monitors and interprets metrics to direct future efforts.

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience in program or operations management, within an educational institution or edtech company a plus.
• Solid people management experience, including the ability to manage managers.
• Outstanding communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and be creative in solving novel problems.

This is a hybrid full-time position based at our headquarters in San Diego, CA. The full salary range for this position is 100,000 - 130,000, with a variable year-end bonus based on individual and company performance. Some benefits of the position include:
