Part-Time Summer Language Arts Teaching Assistant

AoPS Academy is a program of Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), a global leader in K–12 advanced education. AoPS is on a mission to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation. Since 2003, AoPS has trained hundreds of thousands of the country’s top students through its online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. AoPS Academy offers unique problem solving curriculum at its in-person locations across the countryas well as through the virtual campus.

The AoPS Academy in Bellevue, WA is looking to hire language arts Teaching Assistant Interns (TAs) for our Summer 2023Internship Program. This six-week intensive teaching experience is a great opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students interested in working closely with motivated students and gaining valuable experience in the education field.

This is a part-time, IN-PERSON position for our 2023 camps. The internship begins June 28th and lasts through August 18th (excluding July 3rd-7th). During this period, two-week camps are held Monday-Friday for 3 hours a day, with morning classes from 9:00am-12:00pm PT and afternoon classes from 1:00-4:00pm PT. TAs will be expected to assist instructors during both morning and afternoon classes.

Our TAs contribute greatly to the success of our students and are an integral part of our Academy family. This may be a great fit for you if you enjoy interacting with students, guiding them as they work through challenging math problems, and helping them feel more confident about math concepts. Job Duties:

  • Work with students individually or in small groups within a classroom setting.
  • Help the instructor keep the class engaged and focused.
  • Collaborate with instructors and full-time staff to create an excellent experience for all students.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Possess strong language arts content knowledge in reading, writing, and grammar with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
  • Currently working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree related to Language Arts, Humanities, or Education
  • Ability to provide clear, thoughtful, and thorough feedback on students’ writing assignments
  • Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication
  • Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is not required, but a plus

Location and Schedule:

As this is an in-person position at our Bellevue campus location, candidates must be located in Bellevue or the greater Seattle area and must be able to commute to our campus. Please note that AoPS is following CDC guidelines.

The Teaching Assistant pay rate at our Bellevue location is $16/hour. Some benefits of the position include:
