Job Summary:
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company's lending division, including loan origination, processing, and underwriting. This person is responsible for managing staff and ensuring that all lending activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement lending policies and procedures that comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
2. Manage the company's loan origination, processing, and underwriting functions to ensure that loans are closed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
3. Monitor loan portfolio performance and work with the company's credit risk management team to identify and mitigate risk.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as borrowers, real estate agents, and attorneys to enhance the company's reputation and attract new business.
5. Ensure that lending operations are adequately staffed and provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to staff to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.
6. Work with the company's IT department to develop and implement lending technology solutions that enhance productivity and improve customer experience.
7. Monitor and manage lending division expenses, including personnel, technology, and overhead costs, to ensure that the division is operating within budgetary constraints.
8. Collaborate with other departments within the company, such as finance and marketing, to achieve common goals and objectives.
9. Work with the company's underwriting team to identify potential lending opportunities and create lending programs that meet the needs of the company's target market.
10. Manage the loan closing process to ensure that all loan documents are prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate lending, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
3. Strong knowledge of lending regulations, including TILA, RESPA, and Fair Lending laws.
4. Demonstrated experience managing a lending portfolio of at least $200 million.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of making data-driven decisions.
7. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
8. Proficiency in lending software and other relevant technology solutions.
9. Familiarity with hard money lending practices and the real estate industry.
10. Ability to travel as needed.
