Director, Program Lead- Core Science Services (P2496)

As a Program Lead for Core Science Services within our Shared Technology Services Group, you are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers and partners. You are accountable for creating a roadmap that informs customers of major milestones for the teams within Core Science Services. You are decisive and are relentless in providing clarity so teams can move quickly meeting short- and long-term objectives. You will collaborate with functional leaders to champion best practices and build solutions that accelerate time to market and create new value for the organization. You are dedicated to helping your value stream team members grow and develop in their knowledge area and ensure alignment on the work they perform. You blend deep commitment to developing products and solutions with a passion for creating a strong innovative culture by coaching, and mentoring associates. You are accountable for on-going direction to ensure business goals meet or exceed customers short, and long-term requirements. Your customers will understand the value being delivered because of your strong relationships and clear articulation of value. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge in Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI (platforms, algorithms with enterprise-wide use, and shared capabilities), to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

In this role, you are accountable for accelerating and easing the deployment of software and sciences across 84.51°. You provide direction and clear priority of work of multiple teams that deliver services and patterns that make it easier for data scientists to build, deploy, and govern their sciences. The services, tools, and APIs that are built will elevate the quality of data science creation and delivery across the organization. You will help optimize our resource investment so we maximize value delivery along the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Delivering business results and business / customer value
• Accountability for product and user discovery, prioritization, value assessment, measurement and delivery of your value stream. Make data driven decisions
• Define measurable outcomes (OKRs) for the teams so success is clear and measurable
• Own and maintain a value stream product roadmap for your teams
• Ensure there is clarity and focus for the teams to achieve these outcomes. Provide priority calls where necessary
• Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we are maximizing and realizing the outcomes of the program
• Articulate value of work clearly so it is well understood
• Ensure our solution helps accelerate our business strategies and goals
• Supporting and empowering the team to achieve business outcomes for the short and long term
• Working with Program Lead and Function Leaders to align the talent (functional mix) needed to get results and customer outcomes for business unit/program
• Empower team members through feedback on work-in-progress, clarifying requirements and answering questions to ensure that commitments are achieved while improvements are being made
• Ensure the teams in your value stream have the support they need to be successful
• Helping drive innovation to answer tomorrow's questions
• Enable a strong, innovative, and collaborative culture. Partner with Function Leaders to attract, develop, and retain key talent
• Work with Function Leaders to provide feedback on Team members to help improve individual and group performance, as well as to support performance management responsibilities led within the Functions
• Relentlessly pursue customer adoption through a deep understanding of the challenges your customers face
• Partnering with the Kroger Technology Department to ensure quantities of scale and alignment of capabilities and direction
• This role reports to the Science and Developer Services Program Lead

Qualification, Skills & Experience

• 6-8+ years relevant experience
• Product Management (or role with PM-like responsibilities) in data science, machine learning, and AI
• Knowledge of the Data Science Development Lifecycle, MLOps, Embeddings, Measurement, and Customer Analytics
• Change management
• Proven experience empowering and bringing out the best in cross-functional data science and technology teams.
• Proven experience empowering and bringing out the best in people, while at the same time having a strong execution focus to help the team get the work done
• Highly skilled in managing business priorities against design/user needs while delivering against product roadmaps
• Strong understanding of Data Scientists' needs and how we can make their lives easier. Relentless pursuit of user adoption and satisfaction.
• Comfortable leading and working with cross-functional teams, advising, influencing, and empowering team members
• Bring a data-driven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic tradeoffs.
• Intellectually curious and love learning new skills and capabilities, i.e., agile principles and technology platforms
• Understanding of best practices in data science and engineering
• Committed to mentoring and developing Team members to become the next generation of Program Leads
• Bias towards action with an ability to get results as well as the ability to zoom out for future needs and connect the day-to-day work to our large mission and vision.
• Positive relationship building, interpersonal and influencing skills to achieve alignment throughout the organization
• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
