Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Job Description

Daily Mail US is looking for an experienced Deputy Head of Social to take a leading role on the social media team in New York. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of social media platforms, their algorithms and how to drive traffic and engagement in a fast-paced newsroom. The ideal candidate will be able to step into the role of the Head of Social when called upon, leading the team and providing succinct and clear feedback when necessary. They will have a solid understanding of traditional social media platforms and demonstrate a firm grasp of the ever-changing landscape, displaying a clear view of the growth platforms in the industry.

Job Description

  • Alongside the US Head of Social, run the social media team, providing clear feedback and driving traffic and engagement across a plethora of platforms
  • Work closely with all editors and writers to pitch content and advise on headlines for different social media platforms
  • Monitor and analyze key trends in traffic across social media platforms and advise on strategy in the short, medium and long term 
  • Search for new traffic-driving areas across social media platforms and work with the US Head of Social to test identified areas of growth
  • Work closely with SEO and audience teams to grow the Daily Mail’s traffic and authority in the US
  • Work closely with the social video team to ensure all platforms are properly maintained and have a coherent voice

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in social media in a fast-paced news environment
  • Proven experience driving traffic and engagement on social media
  • Experience writing headlines for social media, creating digital assets and understanding of social media algorithms
  • Experience using Meta platforms, Meta for Business, X, Reddit and social media analytics tools
  • Flexibility to work across major events in nights, weekends and holidays
