The Opportunity:

This position is in the Nondestructive Examinations (NDE) Engineering organization, which specializes in designing custom remotely controlled, robotic manipulators and controllers and the associated visual, ultrasonic, or eddy current inspection techniques needed to inspect nuclear reactor plant components. This position is located in Lynchburg, VA.


What You’ll Do at Framatome:

  • Participate in software development for various control systems, for projects ranging from small to large.
  • Identify new applications and opportunities to improve existing processes
  • Participate in all aspects of the software life cycle:
    • Technical requirements development
    • Software development
    • Documentation including user manuals
    • Test planning & performance
    • Maintenance and improvements to code
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as needed.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering, or computer science plus minimum 0-2 years of related work experience. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) may substitute for 1-2 or 1-3 years of related work experience. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.

  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

The following may be used to differentiate candidates who apply for this position:

  • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
  • Candidate must have experience programming in C++ or C#.
  • Experience in Visual Studio programming environment desired.
  • Experience with GUI (graphical user interfaces) is desired.
  • Familiarity with UDP and TCP/IP network software is desired.
  • Experience in .NET programming desired.
  • Experience with integration of software to remotely operated control boxes is desired.
  • Familiarity with SQL database software is desired.
  • Familiarity with Software Verification and Validation is desired.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git is desired.

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $61,000 - $79,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
