Editor

The Editor is responsible for all copy that is crafted for Starboard Cruise Services marketing jobs and Onboard Media publishing projects, including work performed for internal teams and external partners. The Editor is responsible for the writing, editing and proofreading of all copy, either delegating assignments to staff and available freelancers or directly handling the work.

What you’ll be doing::

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Confident in project management, team leadership and client relationship building, with ability to lead remotely.
High comfort level with basic technology, especially Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Must be agile and accustomed to multi-tasking in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a steep learning curve, but also be comfortable in asking questions to clarify assignments.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Custom publication management.
Knowledge of cruise industry.
Basic understanding of travel retail.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leading editorial for creative project and print publications (60%)
Communicating with internal teams and select external partners. (30%)
Leading editorial staff (inclusive of freelancers, agencies and translation companies) (10%)

What we’re looking for::

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a communication, marketing or publishing setting
7-10 years experience in a relevant position

Knowledge & Skills:

Confirmed project-management experience
Strong knowledge of grammar/spelling/usage, in order to edit articles for transparency and correct language
Proofreading skills, for review of page proofs throughout production cycle
Confirmed writing experience, with emphasis on marketing and branding
Good communication skills and professional demeanor, in order to maintain positive relationships with co-workers and clients
