ROLE DEFINITION
DuPont’s Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentice.
RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION
As a member of the FS&RE Research Crafts Team, the Electrical Apprentice performs tasks in support of a wide variety of electrical activities within both R&D and the Building maintenance departments.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:
The incumbent performs assigned duties under direction by supervision, senior technicians and journey level shop personnel; and maintains good standing in the program by successfully completing all education and on-the-job requirements related to the apprenticeship program.
The incumbent follows Dupont rules and regulations at all times.
Assists in effectively and safely performing a wide range of electrical system tasks, including the troubleshooting, repair, restoration, and modification of campus electrical equipment in accordance with the apprenticeship program on-the-job training requirements.
Supplements practical trade experience by attending vocational / technical trade school and/or by participating in our “In-House” training program.
Reads and interprets electrical technical documentation, including drawings, submittals, technical manuals, and specifications.
With guidance, carries out routine electrical work such as preventive maintenance testing and inspections.
Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management Software program to fully document work activities.
Performs work safely and follows all safe work rules and practices.
Uses Lock, Tag, Clear and Try procedure and other safe work procedures before beginning work on equipment and systems.
Work in PSM (Process Safety Management) rated and non-PSM facilities and strictly adhere to safety principles and policies as a condition of employment.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Interpretation and application of National Electrical Code.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
The following are required:
Apprentice Electrical License for the State of Delaware as a minimum. Successful applicant must position themselves to be able to get their Journeypersons Electrical License within 5 years.
Must have a technical aptitude for learning electrical trade skills.
Possess the ability to effectively follow directions in a consistent and effective manner.
Must be able to successfully complete all educational and on-the-job requirements of the apprenticeship program.
Must possess a basic understanding of safe work practices in a shop environment, and follow all shop safe work rules, procedures and practices.
Possess the ability to learn and understand technical documentation related to the electrical technical field.
Must be able to communicate and work well with others.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and short notice call ins as required.
Ability to: lift 10 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs. regularly, 55 lbs. occasionally; climb stairs, ladders, and columns; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, utilize visual acuity, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms
Ability to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, hearing protection, arc protective clothing, and respirator as needed
The following are preferred:
Previous experience in a research and development facility.
Experience with either commercial or industrial wiring methods.
Experience with programmable logic controls and other control systems
Ability to learn new computer software systems and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
