The Role:

As a Program Specialist - Secondary Education, you will design engaging and inclusive enrichment and sports curricula for middle and high school students, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices. You will integrate trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies, support student engagement, and provide research-based training for educators. Additionally, you will collaborate with the curriculum team, collect data to improve programs, conduct site visits, and contribute to ongoing professional development and program innovation. Duties include but are not limited to the following.


The Role:

  • Enrichment Curriculum Design: Create dynamic, scalable, and inclusive lessons that inspire middle and high school students to engage in enrichment activities—including CTE, SEL, STEAM, VAPA—and academic support. Ensure alignment with Elevo's mission and best practices, fostering meaningful learning experiences that promote growth and engagement.
  • Sport Curriculum Design: Develop diverse and engaging sport curricula that prioritize inclusive practices, ensuring all students—regardless of ability, background, or language—can actively participate. Integrate strategies that support students with disabilities, diverse cultural identities, and English Language Learners, fostering an accessible and enriching physical activity experience.
  • Standards Alignment & Physical Wellbeing: Create content aligned with Common Core, CTE standards, California Physical Education (PE) Model Content Standards, and the science of learning and development, with a focus on physical literacy, gross and fine motor development, and the intersection of SEL and physical activity.
  • Trauma-Informed & Culturally Responsive Practices: Ensure content and training materials reflect restorative practices, inclusive strategies, and trauma-responsive approaches for diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and those from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Student Engagement & Developmental Appropriateness: Design lessons with a developmentally appropriate framework that supports students' personal experiences and recognizes their mental, emotional, and physical stages of development.
  • Training & Implementation Support: Create and deliver research-based training for program implementation, behavior support, and best practices for middle and high school students.
  • Collaboration & Data-Driven Design: Work closely with the curriculum and training team to develop scalable resources, collect data from the field, and use this data to drive curriculum design choices, improvements, and innovation.
  • Program Observation & Continuous Improvement: Conduct site visits (at least 2x per month) to gather data, assess program impact, and refine curriculum and training materials. Participate in ongoing program improvement efforts through feedback and refinement across the state.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Other Duties as Assigned


Position Requirements

  • Experience teaching in Middle School and/or High School (6th–9th grade preferred) and working with students meeting criteria for Title I, Special Education, ELL, McKinney Vento, and/or Foster Youth.
  • Experience with classroom instruction in social-emotional learning and supporting student well-being, with preferred experience in restorative practices and evidence-based programs.
  • Experience youth coaching in a range of sports.
  • Experience developing and running a variety of youth sport programs.
  • Experience designing and teaching STEAM, Visual & Performing Arts-based curriculum.
  • Expertise in UDL, DEI, College and Career Readiness, CTE, AVID, and/or PBL is an asset.
  • Experience in after-school programs is also beneficial.
  • High level of academic writing ability and lesson creation.

This position's target annual base pay range is $70,00 - $80,000. Final pay determinations may depend on various factors including, but not limited to, experience level, education, geographical location, knowledge, and skills.
