Minimum Required Education
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Required Experience
Applicant must have two years experience, well organized and the ability to communicate with a broad range of people across campus.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
Applicant must hold a valid drivers license and be qualified under the terms of the Jackson State University’s commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Qualifications
Applicant must possess strong leadership and consensus building skills with operational problem-solving and decisions-making experience. -Applicant must also have knowledge of NIMS, ICS, FEMA, CPG, and HSEEP.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Applicant should have knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions; laws, legal codes, court precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process, business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods, this includes the alternative to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media, principles and assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunication systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training procedures and strategies
- Train groups in the preparation of long-term plans that are compatible with federal and state plans and providing disaster preparedness training.
- Collaborate with other officials to prepare and analyze damage assessments following disasters or emergencies.
- Consult with officials of local and area government, schools, hospitals, and other institutions to determine their needs and capabilities in the event of a natural a disaster or other emergency.
- Propose alteration of emergency response procedures based on regulatory changes, technological changes, or knowledge gained from outcomes of previous emergency situations.
- Coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities, such as ordering evacuations, opening public shelters, and implementing special needs plans and programs.
- Keep informed of federal, state, and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensure that plans adhere to these regulations.
- Collaborate with other officials to prepare and analyze damage assessments following disasters or emergencies.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
