POSITION SUMMARY
ESRT seeks a Graduate Intern, Human Resources, to join our Human Resources Department. This role will share responsibility for the undergraduate Summer Intern Program, will perform various administrative tasks, and will support our Human Resources department’s initiatives. The Graduate Intern, Human Resources, will play a vital role in the organization and implementation of our highly competitive, undergraduate 10-week summer intern program and will have high visibility to the dynamic leaders at ESRT that participate.
This position will be part-time targeting 20-25 hours per week from hire date and will transition to full-time, 40 hours per week as of May 28, 2025, for the undergraduate Summer Intern Program. Candidate must be able to work onsite at our 111 W 33rd St office location.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Undergraduate Summer Internship
Pre-Program
- In partnership with HR Coordinators, maintain current intern job descriptions and ensure all job advertisements are up to date
- Assess potential intern candidate information, including resumes and contact details, using our Applicant Tracking System
- Perform administrative scheduling for Manager, HR Business Partner, and intern managers for potential intern candidates
- Coordinate with various schools to procure candidates for summer intern program
- Prepare communication to candidates via our applicant tracking system, ADP
- Analysis of current Summer Intern Project Plan and scheduled initiatives, provide recommendations and enhancements in real-time
Program
- Proactively utilize Summer Intern Project Plan to schedule tasks for team in advance to ensure successful program
- Schedule and coordinate intern project status updates between HR, the interns, and the intern managers
- Schedule and coordinate various engagement events within the undergraduate summer internship program including but not limited to the Welcome Lunch, ESRT property tours, ESRT volunteer opportunities, and the intern outing
- Design and implement performance review standards for mid-internship reviews and final internship reviews using prior year templates and feedback
- Prepare company-wide communication, such as memos and calendar invites, to be sent from Human Resources
- Act as a liaison between summer interns and Human Resources/ ESRT to help solicit and deliver feedback in real-time
- Craft a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Summer Intern Program using provided materials to present to the HR team post-internship
Post-Program
- In partnership with Manager, HR Business Partner, prepare presentation to highlight intern program wins and provide recommendations on improvements for next year’s program
- Synthesize data from post-summer internship exit interviews, exit surveys, and feedback sessions to summarize and analyze the success of the program with suggestions for next year’s program
- Create post-summer internship metrics on conversions to extended internships, part-time, and full-time positions
Human Resources
- Prepare and distribute various HR reports for the department
- Assist in various functions of the employee life cycle including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, and training
- Assist in the maintenance of personnel files in our HRIS system
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE- A successful Graduate Intern, Human Resources will take pride and ownership for the Summer Intern Program.
- The ideal candidate will effectively and efficiently coordinate throughout the summer, with the goal to ensure all undergraduate summer interns have a meaningful and educational experience with ESRT.
- You will successfully partner with both the HR team and ESRT stakeholders to drive Summer Internship Program initiatives forward.
- You will diligently craft a Summer Internship Post-Mortem, which will describe feedback that was given and will be implemented and will create a path forward for the 2026 Summer Internship Program.
- You will drive improvements on quantifiable metrics like time to fill during internship recruitment, post-intern conversion, intern final project feasibility, and more compared to previous summers to show your impact at ESRT.
- Along the way, you will learn various hands-on, real-world examples of how to be an effective HR partner, and how to cultivate and impact a corporate culture.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - An active student in a graduate educational program in Human Resources within the New York metropolitan area
- Working understanding of Human Resources principles, practices, and procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

$27.50 - $27.50 an hour
Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, job location, size of property where applicable, and/or certifications. In addition to your base salary, ESRT provides discretionary annual bonuses.
