Overview


With a 12-year history and a program that has been recognized for best-in-class quality, City Teaching Alliance is looking to significantly grow - with a specific emphasis on growing the number of aspiring Black and Latinx teachers in the program - and increase their reach and impact over the next decade.


To contribute to this effort, the Enrollment Managers are responsible for executing the confirmation and cultivation process at City Teaching Alliance for their assigned regions, as well as various regional responsibilities, ensuring candidates have an aligned experience throughout their journey with us. This includes building relationships with incoming candidates, leading candidates to sign their offer with City Teaching Alliance, supporting candidates from the time they sign their offer until they start at Summer Institute, ensuring that candidates complete all required enrollment actions, including entrance exams and enrollment at the American University School of Education, and partnering with regions and the City Teaching Alliance Recruitment team to coordinate confirmation and cultivation strategy at every deadline. Enrollment Managers are also responsible for improving candidate enrollment, confirmation, and retention through data, and share responsibility for meeting all annual goals around participants who receive offers, sign their Letters of Intent, and show up at Summer Institute.


The ideal candidate will have a passion for our mission, vision, and values, and is excited to help ensure that the enrollment and cultivation processes exemplify our mission and our deep commitment to anti-racism. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have had experience working in candidate confirmation and cultivation, experience with candidate recruitment, familiarity with one of our four cities, and enjoys building relationships and interfacing directly with candidates.


Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Candidate Confirmation

  • Plan and execute a candidate confirmation process for your assigned region that motivates candidates to join our regions
  • Develop a regional confirmation plan, in partnership with the regional team, designed to meet confirmation goals and help candidates choose to join the City Teaching Alliance program
  • Use data to identify key trends to adjust strategies between confirmation windows to meet the candidate needs and improve the confirmation process over time and meet all confirmation goals
  • Support the Secondary Program of Study determination process as needed
  • Partner with the Recruitment team to build on the relationships they’ve developed with candidates to support confirmation efforts

Candidate Cultivation and Retention

  • Serve as the primary regional point of contact for all prospective and incoming cohort members
  • Develop a regional cultivation plan, in partnership with the regional team, designed to develop strong relationships with candidates, introduce them to their region, ensure they complete all required enrollment items, and help them matriculate to Institute
  • Engage in 1:1 phone calls with prospective candidates and incoming cohort members to build relationships with and retain potential cohort members and address questions related to joining, onboarding, or preparing to begin Summer Institute
  • Create, manage, and implement events geared towards building understanding of our program, developing community among incoming participants, and professional development for the incoming cohort
  • Develop and manage a team of participant/ alumni ambassadors who connect with potential incoming cohort members as needed throughout the season
  • Track all confirmation and onboarding progress by developing systems to include progress to goal on action items, unique needs, and any other additional information to manage them through the onboarding process including sending regular communication to ensure incoming participants are aware of all timelines, required documents, key dates, and other necessary components of the program
  • Manage communication channels such as Slack, email inboxes, and text messages for incoming cohort members
  • Create any welcome modules or professional development needed for candidates to fully orient to City Teaching Alliance and their region
  • Liaise with the regional team to ensure incoming candidates engage and build relationships with the regional team
  • Coordinate experiences for incoming candidates alongside the regional team, including Job Shadow Days, Experience Weekends and Experience Days, Coursework Observations, etc.
  • Send swag and cultivation packages to incoming cohort members to support candidate retention

Testing and Enrollment

  • Lead the testing process for your assigned region, including developing testing plans for all incoming participants and tracking exam completion to ensure all incoming residents can prepare and complete exams successfully
  • Create site-specific entrance exam resources including test preparation materials, candidate-facing infographics, and presentations
  • Provide candidates with testing supports (vouchers, study materials, and other resources) as needed and in partnership with our BEI and Admissions teams
  • Determine and implement strategies to address non-responsive candidates and testing outliers
  • Support the conditional admit process as needed
  • Ensure all residents are accepted into the American University School of Education and enrolled into their program of study

Regional Support (30% of capacity)

  • Attend regional team meetings and provide regular updates to the region on confirmation and retention efforts, as well as the broader Strategy team
  • Laterally manage regional team to support the cultivation and enrollment processes
  • Manage and execute regional projects as needed. These may vary by region, but could include:
    • Planning and assisting with regional events
    • Leading the coursework enrollment process
    • Supporting the school placement process, including interview prep, resume and application package collection, hiring modules, summer hiring, and interview scheduling
    • Summer Institute planning
    • Summer Mentor hiring
    • Roommate Matching


Admissions and Recruitment Partnership

  • Complete candidate interviews as part of the selection process
  • Support the Recruitment team with local recruitment events and campaigns as needed
  • Connect potential applicants who have region-specific questions with yourself, a regional team member, or a campus ambassador
  • Serve as a regional expert across the Strategy team
  • Supporting sourcing and other Strategy team prep throughout the summer
  • Support national incentives and initiatives as needed, including the Signing Bonus and referral programs

Data Management

  • Track and share progress towards cultivation goals on a regional level
  • Identify confirmation and cultivation trends, and improve cultivation strategy using this data
  • Manage candidate information in Salesforce, ensuring testing and cultivation data is clean and accurate
  • Manage and track regional cultivation and testing expenditures for budget

Compensation:
$67,843-$72,174 & is subject to a geographic differential which could increase or decrease it by 4% or 8% depending on city of residence. We are an anti-racist organization that prioritizes equity so we do not negotiate salaries.


Qualifications

Required

  • B.S./B.A. degree from an accredited institution
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, track and manage workflows with strong attention to details
  • Results oriented and motivated by clear goals
  • Ability to analyze data and use analysis to inform strategies
  • Self-directed and a self-starter who is comfortable operating in gray space
  • Flexible and optimistic approach and commitment to overcoming obstacles
  • Ability to work as a part of a remote team
  • Ability to travel independently occasionally throughout the country as needed to support the regional recruitment efforts
  • Willingness and ability to attend events in the evenings and on the weekends as necessary

Highly Preferred

  • Experience working with Salesforce or other constituent relationship management platforms
  • Previous experience in education or education non-profits
  • Experience using design programs (ex: Canva)
  • Previous experience in candidate recruitment
