NDT Level III

Job Purpose

This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for providing NDT inspection techniques in accordance with the NAS410. The candidate must meet these requirements by either having been certified to NAS410 for NDT-UT, Level 3 within the last six months or equivalent in ultrasonics. Must also have a knowledge of visual inspection as it relates to composite structures.

Job Responsibilities

  • NDT-UT, Level 3 responsibilities will require considerable knowledge of the method and material characteristics as they relate to composite structures. Complete acquaintance with, and understanding of, the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  • Knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conducts tests, ability to generate and teach written and verbal instructions as required. Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method in which they are certified. Familiar with codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method. Knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology. Assist in the design special test fixtures and test setups. Ultrasonic inspection experience on composites is a plus
  • Support Performance Review Institute (PRI) NADCAP AC7114 Audit Criteria for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Auditees Accreditation Program

Supervisory responsibility: Yes

  • This is a “working” Level 3 position requiring daily, hands-on management of equipment and software as well as positive interaction with, and mentorship of, NDT personnel from Trainee to Level 2.
Requirements:

Qualifications/Characteristics

  • Must have current ASNT Level 3 certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or have been certified to NAS410, ultrasonic, Level 3 requirements within the last 6 months.
  • Must be able to pass a company administered NDT-UT, Level 3 general exam. Must then be able to rapidly pass specific and practical exams for certification to NAS410 requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a vision test in at least one eye, and be capable of adequately distinguishing and differentiating colors.
  • Computer and technical writing skills (i.e.: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and be able to maintain good will in a potentially adversarial role.
  • Requires some understanding of electronics.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of ultrasonic test equipment for both manual and automated testing.
  • At least a basic understanding of composite manufacturing is required.

Working Conditions

Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, Travel may be required
