The Enterprise Systems Administrator I is responsible for the implementation, day-to-day availability, integrity, and security for IT core server and storage infrastructure, which includes IT data centers, servers, SaaS/IaaS Enterprise Systems and data backup systems. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing server and storage systems, establishing and maintaining the data backup systems. This includes ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery, maintaining IT infrastructure hardware and software, and collaborating with the Enterprise Systems team.
Responsibilities:
Implement and manage data center server, application software, account management and storage equipment life-cycles.
Work with the Enterprise Systems Manager to develop, implement and manage backup strategies and procedures for data and application owners.
Manage the IT physical and virtual server infrastructure and storage systems.
Collaborate with the Technical Support team to ensure they have been trained and updated to help support the basic enterprise systems related issues and concerns from end-users.
Manage and maintain the IT hardware and software inventories.
Propose services, applications, and procedures to improve or assist with business processes that rely on Enterprise Systems.
Provide operational and technical day-to-day support to the Enterprise Systems team.
Assist IT leadership with the planning and control of the Enterprise Systems operational and capital budgets.
Participate in negotiations with vendors and contractors to secure hardware, software, support, and other professional services.
Assist the IT leadership team to develop the IT infrastructure strategy and long-term planning based on institutional objectives with the IT leadership team.
Ensure that change management processes and procedures are up-to-date and being followed for any changes to the Enterprise Systems environment.
Manage documentation of IT standard operating procedures and network/system diagrams for the institution.
Education requirements:
Experience:
Demonstrated progressive experience in the management of networking, storage, and server environments
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical staff
Experience in University systems a plus
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to interact professionally and effectively across all levels of an organization to resolve technical support issues
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation
Perform job duties with the utmost integrity and adherence to institutional policy
Ability to maintain a reliable and methodical approach to the support and documentation of complex computer systems
