Provides technical expertise in the following specialties: Ecological Protection, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety Engineering. Establishes criteria for the development of environmental programs, risk assessment, and employee health and safety. Creates program business plans and service delivery strategies. Establishes and manages the relationships and performance of vendors.
Job Duties include:
Solid understanding and technical expertise supporting in various environmental, health and safety (EHS) disciplines with a concentration on process safety management.
Initiates innovative EHS program solutions, designs, and development concepts.
Provides work product reports and conclusions periodically as required by the EHS Manager
Assists with the management of relationships and performance of vendors, as needed.
Technical specialist to group and business level managers, as needed.
Knowledge of environmental and health and safety law and regulations (process safety management, OSHA Construction/General Industry), and the ability to apply such knowledge to specific situations and design programs in compliance with such law/regulation.
Technical knowledge including but not limited to chemistry, biology, anatomy/physiology, physics, process safety management and environmental health.
Skill in leading various projects; must be able to use individual discretion in completing work assignments; while assisting the group in prioritizing, setting standards and working collectively to accomplish deadlines and objectives.
Lead complex and multiple priorities taking measured risks and appropriate corrective action.
Integral in coordinating activities with other departments including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Validation, Quality Control, etc.
Ability to interface with customer personnel, auditors and regulatory authorities, as needed, to communicate on OSHA/Process Safety topics and status of WPS maintained systems.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent combined education and experience
Post-graduate, certification and/or license may be required.
8+ years relevant experience in EHS (Environmental Health and Safety)
4 + years of Chemical Plant Safety Management
Strong supplier management skills
Strong negotiation skills with a capacity to influence outcomes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of GMP compliance as it applies to assigned tasks
Skilled in using computer software and hardware applications, including Microsoft products and the Internet
Ability to challenge the status quo and motivate change
Good balance of strategic and tactical skills
Able to operate and collaborate within a matrix organization
Results oriented and strong business acumen
Ability to provide expertly written reports in a timely manner
