Responsibilities:
To maintain military readiness and reduce maintenance costs, the Department of Defense (DoD) is motivated to improve the sustainability of the weapons systems and platforms life cycle. This initiative is accomplished through reducing pollution and developing environmentally friendly alternative materials. The Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) are developing and demonstrating the science, tools, and techniques needed to meet critical defense performance criteria while also reducing the impact on the environment and protecting the health of DoD workers and military personnel. Noblis provides engineers, scientists, and project managers focused on surface engineering technologies, inorganic chemistry, energetic materials, life cycle analysis, and waste to energy to execute the mission of these DoD programs. We seek an Environmental Specialist to join our team of talented professionals who successfully support the strategic goals of SERDP and ESTCP. This is an entry level position with oppportunities for future advancement.
The early-career Environmental Specialist will:

Become a trusted advisor to the Weapon Systems and Platforms Program Manager and serve as the liaison between project teams and the SERDP and ESTCP Office.

Actively participate in technical progress meetings for research projects.

Contribute to and assist in development of research and demonstration solicitation topics.

Facilitate the proposal review process, including coordination of proposal review meetings.
-
Monitor financial and technical progress of research and demonstration projects.

Plan, prepare for, and participate in a wide range of meetings, workshops, and conferences. This includes, but is not limited to, developing agendas, presentations, and other associated materials.

Develop outreach such as writing blogs and developing social media content and presentations.

Attend in-person scientific conferences and to represent the client and provide Program updates and overviews as needed.

Collaborate directly with Principal Investigators across over 150 active projects to increase consistency in performance and financial reporting.

Draft workshop summary reports, maintaining cohesive voice throughout.

Review proposals and participate as a non-voting member on the technical selection committee.

Participate in technical progress meetings for funded research projects.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, or environmental preferred), Chemistry, Manufacturing, or other science related fields

0-2 years relevant professional experience

US citizenship is required

Preference for candidates located in the DC, MD, and VA area.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
