Summary of Position:

One of Eska USA’s core functions is product conversion. In this department, large sheets of fiberboard are received from our mills in Europe, cut to customer-specific dimensions, and prepared for outbound shipping throughout North America. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our entire fiberboard converting department during the 2nd shift. This includes management of production, personnel, schedules, maintenance, and quality control standards while simultaneously serving as a functional advisor to the Operations Manager concerning continuous improvement initiatives.    


Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage production operations and guide operators in the performance of their duties and responsibilities to include safety, production volume, cost, quality, and production timelines.
  • Drive continuous process improvement activities to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Coordinate maintenance requisitions for repair of equipment, machine parts, and manufacturing supplies by working and interacting with plant maintenance technicians.
  • Create production schedules while considering asset utilization, manpower allocation, product requirements, production targets, and customer demand.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify both departmental and individual training and development needs.
  • Adjust employee schedules and schedule overtime as required to meet production volumes.
  • Work interdependently with the Supply Chain and Sales department to manage production schedules and volume demand.
  • Meet with vendors, customers, and quality representatives to discuss and resolve quality problems as they arise.
  • Ensure all established policies, safety rules, and operating procedures are communicated, trained on, understood, and followed.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Manager to be actively involved in the hiring process for operators, implementation of sponsorship programs, employee disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain adherence to good housekeeping practices throughout the production facility.
  • Foster an environment of safety, accountability, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and/or monthly meetings to review safety, quality, delivery, cost, and other topics as appropriate.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the performance of total operations management throughout the conversion department. This Position requires succession planning and career mapping, which means the incumbent MUST be committed to career growth and taking on assignments of increased responsibility.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.


Requirements



Position Requirements / Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 or more years’ experience managing teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a track record of leading machine operators, maintenance technicians, and/or material handlers to meet production goals or;
  • Associate degree plus 4 - 5 years’ experience managing teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a track record of leading machine operators, maintenance technicians, and/or material handlers to meet production goals or;
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 - 3 years’ experience managing teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a track record of leading machine operators, maintenance technicians, and/or material handlers to meet production goals
  • Proven ability to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity in a similar production environment. 
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment including overseeing maintenance schedules and troubleshooting downtime issues.
  • Experience scheduling, training, and motivating a diverse workforce comprised of 20+ employees, ensuring safety compliance, and fostering a collaborative team culture. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA standards and other relevant regulations, with experience implementing safety programs in an industrial facility.
  • Ability to oversee material handling, inventory management, and coordination with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted production workflows. (Production planning and scheduling experience is a plus).
  • Competency in managing operational budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing resource allocation while maintaining quality standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite required (particularly Outlook and Excel).
  • Ability to become proficient with proprietary software in a prescribed period of time.
  • Note: Experience with non-CNC machinery is a plus.

Working Hours:

  • 1st shift runs from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM (8-Hours) Monday - Friday. 
  • 2nd shift runs from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM (10-Hours) Monday-Thursday
  • Flexibility will periodically be required to meet operational needs; weekends may be required as needed. 
  • This vacancy announcement is for a 2nd shift position. However, some initial training will be conducted during 1st shift hours.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Comfortable shifting between working in a climate-controlled office setting and an environment with large temperature swings between freezing and 100 °F.

Additional Information: 

  • Compensation: $70k - $90k p/y
  • Work Setting: In-person - Warehouse
  • Relocation: Suffolk, VA 23434 (or surrounding areas) (Required before start date
