POSITION SUMMARY:
The person in this position will assist the Amtrak Stations Design and Delivery team with the design and construction services needed to complete projects at Amtrak station buildings nationwide. This includes reviewing, updating and maintaining Amtrak design standards. The role may also require in-house design for smaller projects. Communication with Amtrak management, project managers as well as internal and external architects, engineers, designers and constructors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Understanding of design and construction processes for new and renovation projects.
• Experience with Design and Use of AutoCAD
• Communication with Amtrak management, project manager, as well as internal and external architects, engineers, designers and constructors.
• Interpret existing conditions and data, collaborate with project team, gain alignment with key stakeholders, report status of projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
• Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Architecture.
• Must have at least 2 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a junior status at minimum.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Understanding of design and construction processes for new and renovation projects.
Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, Project and Access
Experienced with Adobe tools including reader, Pro or DC
Ability to interpret drawings and field conditions

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
