This internship position is available starting in August, and offers a full-time schedule. It includes an hourly wage of $17 and is located in Asheville, NC.
This training program will provide a wide range of opportunities to expand your skills in food and beverage management. Interns will gain technical expertise in the daily operations of our full-service restaurants, banquet facilities, cafes, food trucks & retail outlets. We offer rotations at two different restaurants, allowing you to develop your skills with two separate teams and gain a wider array of experiences.
Employer-sponsored housing may be available, space permitting. The weekly cost is payroll-deducted.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise front of house restaurant operations.
- Inspect all materials, serviceware, equipment and facilities to ensure service readiness at all times.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all assigned work areas.
- Oversee distribution of work and side duties.
- Ensure table seating that best accommodates our guests.
- Monitor status of food and beverage orders; ensure they are delivered within designated timelines; and communicate regularly with the chef throughout meal period.
- Monitor and ensure that all tables are cleared and reset according to department procedures.
- Monitor and confirm completion of closing duties at end of shifts.
- Review status of assignments and any necessary follow-up with manager.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Anticipate needs and respond promptly. Resolve complaints to facilitate a positive guest experience.
- Participate in our Field to Table operation to gain knowledge of our preservation and sustainability practices. Attend learning opportunities presented by other estate teams to expand awareness of our operations and services.
Requirements:
- Exert physical effort in transporting 25-50 pounds frequently.
- Endure various physical movements throughout the work day.
- Ability to remain ambulatory and in stationary positions throughout work shift.
- Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers.
- Must be currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in hospitality management or related field.
