Position Status: Temporary (Block Visitor)

Position Summary:
The primary role of the field coach is to guide and mentor teacher candidates in Colorado College's undergraduate licensure and/or Master of Arts in Teaching licensure programs. Field coaches support teacher candidates through observation, feedback, instructional coaching, reflective dialogue, and performance evaluation. The field coach is the primary Colorado College ambassador and communication liaison with assigned students and school personnel where teacher candidates are completing field experiences. The field coach will actively support the college's commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate commitment to CC Education Department core values, mission statement and vision statement
  • A masters degree (or higher) in education or content area (for secondary/K12).
  • A minimum of eight years of proven school teaching experience, with at least five years in a diverse public setting.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory with experience coaching or providing feedback to adult learners preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct 50% classroom observations in-person and the other via shared viewing and dialogue of videos. The program believes strongly that experiences in the context of the school setting and engaging directly with cooperating teacher, K-12students and the teacher candidate is critical to authentic coaching and growth of the teacher candidate. Likewise, the program values the reflection and growth that video observations engender.
  • The willingness and/or ability to use online software platforms including Zoom, Canvas and other software that allows for recording and shared feedback opportunities.
  • Passion for teacher education and dedicated to student (both Teacher Candidate and K12) success.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or recent Colorado State teaching and/or Principal/Administrator license
  • Documented history of working well as team member and valuing collaboration
  • Knowledge and experience with instructional coaching and evaluation techniques.
  • ELEMENTARY FIELD COACHES: Knowledge and experience with the Science of Reading standards required by the READ Act, and/or willingness to engage in professional development to effectively mentor elementary teacher candidates in the Science of Reading.
