Senior Data Analyst

Job Title: Senior Data Analyst - Business Insights


Location: Remote

We are a fast-growing fintech company that uses data-driven insights to improve business performance, optimize operational efficiency, and manage risk. As part of our team, the Senior Data Analyst will tackle critical business projects and requests ranging from executive reporting to fraud investigations, machine learning model evaluation, and performance analysis. You will collaborate with business units, executives, and external stakeholders to develop actionable insights that align with business objectives.  The tempo and range of responsibilities in this position far exceed that of most Senior Data Analysts.  Successful candidates will be analytically rigorous and strategic, with strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement characteristics.


Key Responsibilities:


1.Management Reporting & Business Insights:

oLead the development of self-service analytical reports and interactive dashboards in Power BI/SSRS, providing executives and senior management with real-time business insights.

oMaintain decision-support solutions (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive analytics) to help inform strategy and business planning.



2.Fraud Analysis & Risk Management:


oConduct daily fraud reviews and provide analytical support for fraud investigations, helping mitigate risks by identifying and addressing fraud patterns.

oCollaborate with business units on inquiries related to fraud cases, helping to drive resolutions.


3.KPI Reporting & Executive Prep:


oSupport the development of management KPI reports and collaborate on preparation for executive meetings, ensuring accurate and actionable insights are presented.


4.Data Model Evaluation & Machine Learning:


oCollaborate with product and underwriting teams to continuously improve machine learning models using statistical methods, segmentation, and deep learning.

oParticipate in the evaluation and optimization of new and existing data models, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.

oConduct data drift monitoring and address operational inconsistencies in automated models.


5.Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration:


oAssist in vendor due diligence and understanding anticipated business volumes. 

oAssist business units in acquiring a deep understanding of business problems, translating them into mathematical models, spreadsheets, and visualizations that inform decisions.


6.Executive-Level Presentations & Stakeholder Engagement:


oPresent complex data and insights to cross-functional leadership teams, helping to drive actionable steps that align with business strategy.

oFacilitate integration of data science methodologies across a variety of business use cases, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.


7.Fulfill ad hoc business analytic requests 


oAdhere to internal support and project process standards, ensuring timely and accurate delivery


Qualifications/Skills:


Undergraduate Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

•10-20 years of relevant experience, preferably in business decision support roles, data science, or a related field, ideally within fintech or financial services.

Highly Proficient in SQL and experience working with Power BI, SSRS, or similar tools to develop analytical reports and dashboards.

•Familiarity with machine learning techniques such as Gradient Boosted Models, Clustering, etc., and experience with model evaluation and optimization.

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis, hypothesis testing, and translate insights into business impact.

•Ability to work quickly with large data sets, identifying patterns, ensuring data integrity, and addressing anomalies.

•Experience working cross-functionally to solve complex business problems and generate data-driven recommendations.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders.

High initiative and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.

•Experience visualizing and presenting data both internally and externally, using Power BI and Excel.

•Ability to "read the room," facilitating productive discussions and resolving misunderstandings quickly to ensure team alignment.

•Demonstrated ability to become an expert in new topics and rapidly understand evolving business contexts.

Collaborate with technology teams to capture meaningful data, improve usability, and ensure data quality across projects.
