Cloud Platform Engineer

About the Role

As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Kafka messaging clusters to serve as the foundation for application pub/sub requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with application teams to translate their needs into scalable, maintainable services, while bringing a strong incremental and MVP-based approach to all tasks.


Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate Kafka clusters to meet application pub/sub demands.
  • Collaborate with application teams to translate requirements into deliverable services.
  • Optimize performance around messaging platforms within the application.
  • Contribute to the build and operation of Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and cloud environments.
  • Leverage application observability platforms to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Take a data-driven approach to troubleshooting and decision-making for platform operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in cloud platform engineering or related fields.
  • Expertise in building and managing Kafka clusters, with proven experience in pub/sub messaging systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or C++ (alternatively Java or Node.js).
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms, ideally AWS (experience with GCP or Azure also acceptable).
  • Experience integrating with application teams to ensure infrastructure serves user needs.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization strategies in Kafka or messaging platforms.
  • Experience working in Kubernetes (K8s) and containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with observability tools and metrics for monitoring.
  • A demonstrated MVP-based and incremental approach to development.
  • Strong English Skills (B2+)


Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with data science tooling such as Python, Pandas, Snowflake, Spark, or S3.
  • Familiarity with running containerized environments at scale.
  • A data-driven mindset in addressing operational challenges.
