Guided by user research, we design and develop functional platforms using clean code and intuitive design, and then we make those platforms accessible to everyone.About the RoleWe are seeking a talented and experienced UX/UI Designer to lead the user experience and interface design for a New York State Website Redesign project. The redesigned website will migrate to Drupal 10.2 or the latest version, emphasizing user-centric design principles, accessibility, and scalability. This role is pivotal in creating a website that reflects New York State’s diverse communities, prioritizes mobile-first design, and enables data-informed decision-making for the agency.Requirements• 5+ years of demonstrable experience as a UX/UI Designer• A solid understanding of human-centered design methodologies and agile workflows• Design with WCAG 2.2 AA standards to ensure the website is engaging and functional for users with accessibility needs• Collaborate with developers to implement and validate accessibility features beyond automated testing• Create visually appealing, professional designs in line with the agency's branding guidelines and Drupal best practices• Develop design systems and reusable components for scalability• Prioritize mobile usability by designing responsive templates, content layouts, and interactive tools optimized for mobile devicesEssential Skills• Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer, preferably with government or state agency projects• Proficiency in designing for Drupal platforms and knowledge of Drupal.org best practices• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA)• Expertise in mobile-first and responsive design principles• Knowledge of SEO strategies and data-driven decision-making processes• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar platforms• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centric designs, accessibility-focused projects, and mobile-friendly interfaces• Excellent communication and collaboration skills• Relevant degree in design or a related fieldWhy Join this team?This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project that will transform the way New Yorkers interact with the agency's website.
