Sr UX Designer, Design Systems – Brand Liaison

About the RoleAs a member of our Experience Team at Gap, Inc., you’ll shape how customers engage with our multi-billion-dollar portfolio of global brands.Gap, Inc. is seeking a Sr. User Experience Designer (UX) to join our Design System team as a brand liaison. In this role, you will be a hybrid designer / design operations expert, keeping information flowing via strong verbal and visual communication. You will . You are familiar with every stage of the design and build process – from research, journey mapping, user flows, and exploratory design sprints to wireframing, prototyping, delivery of high-fidelity designs, and iteration with product and engineering through the development process – and bring a strong vision for how a centralized design system can accelerate workflows. You have excellent communication, interaction and visual design skills and can clearly express design thinking and rationale, leading and influencing during complex design discussions with partners and leaders.Experience with e-commerce, loyalty programs, design systems, design ops, and project or program management is a plus. A passion for fantastic customer experience and empathy is a must.A resume and portfolio are required upon application to this position. Be prepared to present and speak to previous and relevant work during interviews.What You'll Do• Independently partner with external agencies, brand representatives, product managers, engineering, and product designers, as an ambassador of the cross-functional design system team in a fast-paced Agile environment, facilitating productive alignment conversations and delivering assets that enable teams to work quickly and efficiently• Generate assets that foster understanding and collaboration, including but not limited to project plans, kickoff materials, style guides, redesign playbooks, handoff checklists, visual references, documentation, and high fidelity product design mockups when required• Comfortably and independently balance 2-3 projects at a time, advocating for support and delegating when necessary• Live and breathe our design principles and tenets, providing feedback and critique to ensure designs and user interfaces offer consistent, effective experiences and messages across all platforms and breakpoints while aligning with core strategy and objectives• Facilitate workshops and design sprints with project teams and stakeholders to explore problem spaces, identify pain points, and create alignment; produce summarizing documents for executive share-out where necessary• Be a steadfast steward of the broader design system ecosystem, while also advocating for brand specificity where differentiation has a marked and meaningful impact• Maintain a growth mindset, leveraging soft skills to give and receive feedback graciously and translate critique into a productive direction for the team to act uponWho You Are• 7 to 9 years of experience designing for web and mobile, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your experience creating user-centered design solutions.• Minimum of 3+ years of experience maintaining, contributing to, and managing design systems, in both code and Figma; bonus for experience establishing a new design system and socializing with a broad team of designers and partners• Expert in Visual (UI) and Interaction Design (UX) - able to synthesize custom elements from an existing design system with native mobile patterns to deliver an effective combination of consistency, familiarity, brand expression, and ease of use.• Comfortable reviewing proposed and implemented work, providing candid feedback to fellow designers and developers, holding the cross-functional team accountable to delivering the application as designed, or arriving at compromises that keep the customer experience at the forefront.• Experienced in gathering end-user input and conducting or participating in usability testing and needs-finding research.• Detail-oriented with excellent work-file organization and respect for sustainable but evolving design processes.• Excellent communicator who has the conviction to champion your point of view but can also successfully collaborate with others
