Job Description SummaryThe IP Strategist demonstrates leadership in delivering & communicating business goals/programs/processes for a technical area or business segment in strategic IP matters. The applicant has the experience and expertise to develop IP strategy solutions to strengthen IP positions for the future of flight at GE Aerospace.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities• Assigned area for the present role will be Avionics, electrical, mechanical, and electronics product areas though the scope may grow over time to include further electrical engineering, computer science, materials, mechanical engineering, and/or chemical engineering-based specialties.• Work with assigned technical area or business segment to develop strategic IP – including trade secrets & patent applications. Role includes management of organic IP growth in the technical area or business segments, as well as facilitating IP harvesting sessions with cognizant subject matter experts to generate impactful IP that protects GE Aerospace freedom to practice and/or provides blocking/licensing opportunities.• Understand IP portfolio of assigned area to inform subject matter experts on the patentability, strength of IP portfolio, assertion & licensing opportunities, maintenance actions, etc.• Competitive assessment of technologies within assigned area.• Conduct freedom-to-practice (FTP) analyses on new technologies within assigned area.• Assure proper documentation of technical and/or IP data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering/legal policies and procedures.• The base pay range for this position is $91,700 to 152,900 USD Annual The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This document does not create a contract of employment with any individual.Required Qualifications• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science• 2-8 years of IP experience and/or aerospace/automotive engineering positionsDesired Characteristics• Master of Science in electronics, electrical engineering, or computer science• Demonstrated Ability to work across diverse products and technologies.• Established project management, including ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs• Strong leadership skills, including ability to lead discussions and projects involving senior attorneys and engineers• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems• Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexityThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
