The Sr Software Engineering, GeoGuard contributes to the success of the GeoGuard team by managing the design and implementation of new features and solutions, working closely with the Manager, technical product, DevOps, QA, and other teams. 


Reporting directly and taking direction from the Manager, technical product, this position develops and maintains GeoGuard’s products by architecting new components, troubleshooting problems, providing resolution, and ensuring that systems development follows the guidelines.


Accountabilities
  • Provide technical guidance to developers
  • Research new features, analyze requirements, estimate implementation; design software; code reviews; document solutions
  • Design solutions, taking non-functional and operational requirements into consideration;
  • Make a review of new build packages for customer releases
  • Commit to agreed deadlines
  • Contribute to establishing best development practices for the team
  • Conduct research to determine the effectiveness of off-the-shelf products in building a new system
  • Immediately notify the Manager in the following cases: a) if requirements are not stated clearly; b) there are factors that prevent completion of a task on time; c) there is a high probability that the task will not be completed with good quality


Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain GeoGuard products, continuously seeking new IP/network technology trends and related spoofing
  • Assist in scoping requirements for development and maintenance of Platform test automation suites
  • Assist in requirement gathering/compilation
  • Consider scalability and hosting requirements of the codebase in order to ensure systems can scale as cost-effectively and reliably as possible
  • Analyze critical production incidents and provide clear and fair analyses of the root cause, describe the mitigation steps and learnings in the incident report
  • Seek to ensure the business team is aware of key decisions made in the development process, particularly as they relate to the choices made on important functionality included/excluded in each new release
  • Participate in Quality Assurance of the software deliveries and actively seek to optimize efficiency and speed of test runs
  • Ensure applications are continuously delivered with the requested level of quality
  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new developers
  • Actively seek to share technical expertise with others
  • Contribute to establishing best practices and processes for GeoGuard products
  • Monitor and analyze effects of implemented changes on the production environment (issues resolved, KPI’s); actively encourage developers to monitor and analyze
  • Maintain a good understanding of the features of the product and implications of changes on other products
  • Fully understand features of 3rd party products and services that product team relies on for the product to function; establish good working relationships and communication channels with applicable 3rd parties to ensure their roadmaps align with the team’s roadmaps; for 3rd parties such as browsers/OS’s etc., ensure that all changes communicated by these entities are received as early as possible, studied and analyzed for an impact assessment on GeoGuard’s products and services and communicate any findings to the wider team
  • Support customer’s inquiries
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s products, processes, and technologies.
  • Understand the company’s vision, goals and strategy; actively contribute to the achievement of the goals and execution of the company’s strategy


Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience with PHP and Python/Go. Experience leading technical teams is a plus
  • Experience with cybersecurity is particularly valuable.
  • Ability to research new technologies, deep knowledge of IP network/ CDN technologies, develop specifications, and code
  • Problem-solver and solutions-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and schedule, collaborate with teams and follow up with team members on actions
  • Good communication skills
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Good understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Good understanding of relational databases (if applicable)
  • Experience working in a multinational team
  • Experience using modern version control and project management systems
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule or overtime in the event of emergencies on the project
