Software Engineer - IBM MQ & WebSphere

Software Design and Development:

Design, develop, and implement software solutions using IBM MQ and IBM WebSphere Application Server.

Create and manage message queues and topics, develop message flows, and ensure reliable message delivery.

Develop and maintain WebSphere-based applications, including creating and deploying Java EE applications.

IBM MQ Management:

Install, configure, and manage IBM MQ to ensure reliable messaging and integration.

Design and implement message queuing solutions, including setting up and managing queues, topics, and message channels.

Monitor and optimize IBM MQ performance, troubleshoot and resolve messaging issues, and ensure message security and integrity.

WebSphere Application Server Management:

Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server environments.

Deploy, manage, and optimize enterprise applications on WebSphere, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application deployment, server configurations, and performance.

System Integration:

Develop and maintain integrations between IBM MQ, WebSphere Application Server, and other enterprise systems.

Implement and manage APIs and interfaces to facilitate data exchange and system interoperability.

Performance Optimization:

Monitor and analyze the performance of messaging systems and applications, identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks.

Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies for both IBM MQ and WebSphere environments.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

Develop and execute test plans to validate messaging functionality, application performance, and integration.

Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Documentation:

Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for messaging and application solutions, including design specifications, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.

Document code changes, system configurations, and integration points.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with IT teams, including software developers, system administrators, and business analysts, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding project progress, software status, and technical issues.

Compliance and Standards:

Ensure that software solutions and system configurations adhere to organizational standards, industry regulations, and best practices.

Stay informed about advancements in IBM MQ and WebSphere technology and industry trends.

SLA Management:

Understand and adhere to SLA (Service Level Agreements) and infrastructure policies.

Manage incident handling, service requests, and provide on-call support if required, including P1 and P2 incidents.

Perform software upgrades, migrations, and interim or fixpack installations.

Understand security vulnerabilities, read, and interpret security bulletins.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience: Proven experience in software development and system integration using IBM MQ and IBM WebSphere Application Server.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in designing and managing messaging solutions with IBM MQ.

Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server, including installation, configuration, and management.

Knowledge of Java, J2EE, and related frameworks for WebSphere-based application development.

Familiarity with middleware integration, messaging protocols, and performance optimization techniques.

Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Solution Developer for MQ, IBM Certified System Administrator for WebSphere) are a plus.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
