We're looking for an experienced Head of Learning and Development to join our People team, located in Austin. We're looking for a commercially minded, driven and goal- oriented leader with experience in designing and delivering a scalable learning and development strategy for our global teams.
At Wise, we have a development team working across company onboarding, learning experience and instructional design and leadership development. We're transforming this capability to work closely with people partners and our team leads in order to design and deliver learning interventions that empower our teams to achieve our mission.
Reporting to the Head of People and Organisational Development, this role will mainly work alongside our People Partners, setting a comprehensive range of objectives for learning at Wise and leading a team of leads, who supervise and manage the operational day-to-day of our L&D function.

You'll develop a plan for our learning culture to grow and expand its reach, while supporting every business team to achieve their specific development goals.
- We're evolving our operating model - you'll have the opportunity to bring your experience, skills and thought leadership to help us build a scalable, relevant and innovative learning culture at Wise, leading alongside three team leads overseeing learning experience, leadership development, instructional design and onboarding.
Your Mission
- Develop a global L&D team and lead it to high performance, ensuring everyone has the capabilities and capacity needed to develop business-relevant plans and execute on them in a timely manner.
- Co-create and drive a learning and development strategy together with our People Partners, setting metrics and OKRs that are aligned with our global teams' mission.
- Partner with leaders to develop our leadership capability and skills needed for our future success.
- Partner with the business to develop a comprehensive strategy for the onboarding of Wisers across our many locations.
- Create strong workflows and frameworks that maximise the way we leverage learning technology within the organisation.
- Work with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team to actively drive our DEI strategy through training and development. Support Wise initiatives and actively contribute to embed DEI best practice across our processes.
- Analyse our key metrics and risks adding further insight into the overall health of our strategy, sharing trends or identifying opportunities for focus.
- Shape our vision to support and enhance our global teams through learning, Informing your input with evidence-based models, global business trends, advanced needs analysis and insights into future requirements.
- Champion our values and culture, being a role model for these and supporting the continual embedding of them in everything we do.

About you
- Worked in a high growth, product or service led (ideally tech) company - this will help you know how to deal with ambiguity and shifting priorities. We're looking for someone with experience working in medium to large, technology or complex businesses who know what best practice looks like on a global scale.
- Technology-savvy - you understand how scalable development can be delivered smartly and that there are multiple platforms and modalities through which we can serve the development of Wisers across the globe.
- Substantial Learning and Development expertise - you've led teams through the creation, development and implementation of high impact development initiatives in a global setting.
- Holistic and Global outlook - you're experienced supporting Leads and employees split across geographies and timezones. One of your super powers is understanding the language of development across a broad range of career paths.
- Broad technical expertise - meaning that no matter the challenge (leadership, technical skills, onboarding, learning platforms, instructional design) you're able to contribute and add value.
- Strong communicator – you are an effective and thoughtful communicator who is able to understand diverse perspectives and vary your communication style based on the circumstance.
- Data driven - you'll base decisions on metrics and have clear KPIs for all your plans
- Innovative thinker – you'll be strongly solutions focused, able to identify problems and with a track record of delivering high impact initiatives. You're willing to challenge the status quo, speak up and help others see things from other perspectives.
- Strong leader - you'll help your team have a big business impact while building highly effective relationships with their stakeholders.
