CAE Engineer III - NVH Methods Development

This role will support CAE development activities for complex full vehicle and system-level CAE model construction, visualization, and analysis for Automotive Body-In-White (BIW)/Chassis/Powertrain Performance Evaluation and Specification setting.


Responsibilities
  • Utilize Hypermesh/Ansa for Construction of high-quality FE meshes and models of the complete body, chassis subsystems and Power Unit.
  • Conducting FE solutions using Optistruct for Strength, Stiffness and Topology Optimization Evaluation.
  • Conducting FE solutions using Nastran for Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) Performance and Evaluation.
  • Conducting FE solutions using Abaqus for Durability Performance and Evaluation.
  • Utilize Simpack/Matlab/Simulink to build Vehicle Models for Handling Performance and Evaluation.
  • Interpret data, develop and report countermeasures using Hyperworks/Metapost for post-processing.
  • Optimize and correlate analyses with real-world test results.
  • Communicates effectively within the group about issues, and outside the group to accomplish goals.
  • Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Lead research activities to develop new and improve existing CAE methods.
  • Utilizes Excel to create and update project schedules.
  • Travel to client site required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8+ years relevant experience
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive.
  • Experience with 3D FEA analysis in domains such as component strength and durability, noise and vibration of total vehicle/system/component transfer, and/or vehicle systems modeling for automotive power unit and chassis systems (engine, motor, transmission, battery, suspension, brake, steering, body-in-white)
  • Experience using pre-processor (Hypermesh/Ansa), post-processor (Hyperworks/Metapost), solver tools (Optistruct/Abaqus/Nastran), Matlab/Simulink for complex vehicle system-level CAE model construction, visualization, and analysis.
  • CAD (CATIA V5/V6) design experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including excel.
