Job DescriptionYOUR IMPACTThe Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Group within the Investment Banking Division in New York is looking for a highly skilled and experienced associate to join our Equity Capital Markets, Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) team. Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. We work with corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments. We are a team of strong analytical thinkers, who have a passion for producing out-of-the-box ideas.Our Equity Capital Markets Group works closely with public and private companies, venture capital firms, entrepreneurs and financial sponsors to originate, structure, and execute equity financings such as initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, block trades, convertibles and derivatives. The group is organized by product (common equity and structured equity) and segmented by industry group. The group works closely with many other areas of the firm, particularly equity sales and trading. Our TMT Group advises clients across a range of subsectors including artificial intelligence, software, internet, e-commerce, sports and entertainment, publishing, advertising, broadcasting, cable, wireless, hosting, semiconductors, electronics and hardware.Role ResponsibilitiesHOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL• You will help originate & lead equity capital market transactions for our financial sponsor, venture capital and corporate clients• You will develop content for meetings with clients regarding their strategy and potential M&A or capital market transactions• You will liaise with multiple internal (e.g. junior and senior team members across different product groups) and external parties (e.g. client management teams, investors lawyers) on a daily basis to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives• You will complete and review the analytical work of junior team members / analysts, and provide mentorship and oversight to the junior team• You will have to think creatively to perform investor targeting of potential institutional buyers, analyzing comparable companies and institutional cross ownership• You will play a vital role throughout the entire transaction process, including project management for mission-critical equity financingsBasic QualificationsSKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ relevant work experience• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written• Strong analytical orientation, with experience performing financial and valuation analysis in Excel or comparable spread sheet toolsPreferred Qualifications• Prior work experience in an investment bank or financial institution• Well-rounded academic background from a top tier institution• Understanding of transaction cycles and the steps in the process• Demonstrate maturity to work with all levels of professionals across the firm and external clients• Possess good judgment to make quick and complex decisionsAbout Goldman SachsAt Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
