The Applied ML Scientist will work with Product Managers, Software/Platform/Data Engineers and Analysts to create scalable ML solutions. The work location will be based either in Chicago or Lake Forest, IL. The position requires being in a Grainger office 2 days per week. For candidates who are out of state, we are open to providing partial relocation assistance. The position will report to Sr Manager, Applied Machine Learning.You Will:• Work with a team of product managers, data scientists, data engineers and architects to build targeted products that help customers solve and answer specific problems.• Utilize code (Python, SQL) for analyzing and building ML models to solve specific business problems, like classification, regression and learning to rank• Build, test and deploy customer-facing analytical and ML endpoints & APIs that are a mixture of business logic, model and data.• Collaborate with researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support.• Articulate concepts and generate visual representations of the data product.You Have:• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a field such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience• Experience building solutions with Python, and familiarity with SQL• Familiarity with modern Natural Language Processing (NLP) including experience with text classification, text embeddings, and natural language generation• Experience with wrapping models and serving them as REST APIs• Experience in analytical roles involving data analysis, and communicating of findings• Proficiency with tools like Airflow, Docker & Kubernetes• Ability to effectively communicate technical solutions to engineering teams and business audiencesDon’t meet every single qualification?
