MDS Communication & Engagement Director

Medicine Development & Supply (MDS) is a group of >2000 multi-disciplinary scientists in Research and Development (R&D) who turn great ideas into life-changing medicines, designing the physical product, developing the manufacturing process, and launching the medicine. Every molecule and medicine that leaves GSK and reaches patients goes through this team. We are driven by the goal of creating medicines where others haven’t been able to before.We are recruiting an internal communications and engagement director to bring creative and innovative ideas to the table, to design and deliver effective communication and engagement within the MDS organization, and to raise awareness in the external employee marketplace. The individual will create and personally implement a Communication & Engagement plan utilizing the best tactics and channels available within GSK, communicating in a way that fulfils the specific needs of target audience demographics.This is an opportunity for you to work in an innovative global healthcare company and make a personal contribution, via improved engagement, to productivity, retention, and employee engagement, and ultimately to patients around the world.This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…Responsibilities:• Design and implement an internal Communication & Engagement plan (aligned to Global/R&D strategy, narrative, and objectives) that brings the MDS Strategy to life and motives/engages employees.• Participate as an extended member of MDS LT (Leadership Team) to coordinate communication activities aligned to the Communication and Engagement plan.• Build further communication capabilities of MDS LT/MDS Sr. Leaders• Develop and strengthen key messages for MDS LT based on priority topics/proof points• Working with MDS Operations lead, create materials and documents to set standards and drive employee engagement• Create and deliver compelling content (videos, animations, infographics, campaigns) that align MDS business objectives and truly resonates with MDS employees, providing consistent messaging regarding our portfolio, technology, and performance ambitions.• Deliver engagement events, setting the agenda/content, speaking coordination, briefing documents/talking points, and logistics, including liaising with external partner agencies where applicable.• Ensure content and events are measurable and coordinated/aligned with key partners outside of MDS:• Site Engagement and Leadership Teams• R&D Internal Communications & Engagement• GSK Global Communications• Leverage existing channels effectively (Intranet, Newsletters, Workplace, e-mails, etc.). Ensure adoption and usage of any new communication channels.• Contribute to initiatives to increase awareness of MDS as an attractive employer in the external employee marketplace in support of broad ongoing recruitment.Why you?Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:• Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field• Experience: Extensive experience in prior communications/engagement role• Experience: Co-ordinating cross functional teams in a matrix environment• Experience: Organizing complex, multi-site, global events• Personal attributes:• creative and adaptable,• adept at conveying scientific information and ideas clearly and effectively,• able to handle criticism and feedback,• personally aligned with GSK culture of ambition for patients, accountable for impact, and doing the right thing.• able to work under tight deadlines.Preferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:• Masters degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field• Experience working in a scientific/healthcare industry.Closing Date for Applications: Monday 12th August 2024 (COB)Please take a copy of the Job Description, as this will not be available post closure of the advert.When applying for this role, please use the ‘cover letter’ of the online application or your CV to describe how you meet the competencies for this role, as outlined in the job requirements above.
